if toyotas and jeeps both sucked why would they be on this web site, you don't see anyhting on here about fords and dodges and chevys on here and we all know that they suck

So have you always been retardid or is a new infliction. If you dont have anything to add, maybe you should shut the heck up. I drive anerican because I like to held my head high. My perrogative, If I want to drive a honda, I would. Dont mean I gotta push my beliefs on you. If you dont like jeeps, you probally shouldnt be in the jeep section there hot rod.

As a fellow jeeper dude It's all in fun the only infliction here is wheelin'

jest seems to me a toyota guy started this in a jeep section. From where I set it looks like someone trying to stir stuff up? i mean no offense, but shouldnt this be in toyota section? Why are a bunch of toyota guys now coming to jeep section and talking down to jeeps. I have had both, several more toyotas than jeeps actually. I have decided that I want to drive a jeep as my offroad toy so I do, I dont go to other sections and badmouth other peoples rigs there. I started a similar post in toyota, but it was moved already. Cant we put this thread where it belongs also and get to some jeep tech not jeep bashing. As i posted earlier, if you dont like jeep you probally shouldnt buy one and if you dont have one you probally shouldnt be talking down to others that do. Not being hateful, just my opinion on the matter.

I think the reason they put this here is to bolster the new Jeep forum so that it would have some threads in it.

yep your right and several of the jeep bashers on this thread have either had or still do have jeeps . like rocksurfer said He loves his Willy's it just breaks down all the time . and I've heard several others say the samething . but everyone of them when I ask if anyone can help me with a jeep question or problem is more than willing to help me jeep,Toyota, sami, whatever we all love all types of wheelers . as for me I love my jeep but I haven't got it on the road yet because as soon as I fix one thing something else breaks . but i still love my jeep and before long at this rate it will be as good as new . heck it will be brand new.

CG, you need to remember that be it Jeep, Toyota, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, it's all a matter of opinion and everyone has a right to their own opinions.

This thread has been here a long time and so far it's been pretty peaceful.  We are all under the understanding that to each his own, and opinions are usually respected.  As for the Jeep forum on a Toyota board, if you have a problem with that, feel free to PM cruzila or White Trash or KYOTA or on of the other blue mods to go into detail.

I have my current jeep and my newest JEEP project. I take my jeep out to the dunes all the time and run circles around all the little yotas. Out there you need horsepower. none of my yotas had any except the 80 with the 3.8 turbo motor in it. That was a a fun truck, Once i out some power in it there wasnt a mud hole in north carolina I didnt run thru. Anyhow i was just posting a complaint about this thread and the fact it wasnt allows in toyota section, Just thought it shouldnt be here either.

Mine had cancer of the frame.  :help:
:haha:   One time I went wheelin' with it and the hangers for the rear springs (yes both of them) broke loose and I had to chain the rearend to the frame to get home.

rockscrambler

I know what you mean . I had to do that to the front axle  of an old dodge powerwagon ambulance when i was in the NATIONAL GUARD.

:offtopic: sorry that comment had nothing to do with a jeep or a toyota see all 4wheelers have problems

i personally was going to buy a jeep but i needed something to haul my bike around in so i got my yota, i wish that my yota could have a jeep 4.0 put  :_order:  in it though
95 Toyota p/u 3.0 v6. Marlin SAS with 5"springs, 30 spline bobby longs, and a welded V6 third in a trussed 85 front axle. 529's front and rear, Marlin rear kit with 5" springs, lockrite rear locker,  36"  IROCKS on 15x10 black rock crawlers, custom front and rear bumpers,

chevyguy

I got rid of my toyotas because of issues with lack of power. Anything bigger than 31 would bog it down. I dropped the gears down and that helped it git off the line, but still stunk on the highway. My 87 had 33s on it and it was a turd. Had death wobble which was a booger to repair. I hate IFS. Jeep has always been solid axle which makes them far superior in my mind. Jeeps and toyots need an engine swap to get the power I want, But the SAS thing is ridiculous to me. Just start with a good platform and it will save you alot of work, Unfortunately the solid axle in toyota stopped after 1984. Jeep is still building the most recongnized off roader out there. i like to wheel with alot of different types of vehicles to see whats what, but as far as my jeep being inferior, No it wheels fine against anythig built to around the same level as it is. I wouldnt wheel it against a full on rock crawler by any means without modding it more first,

WHITE_TRASH

Havent looked under a new jeep  have you?  Yup thats right in the next few years all the solid axle's will be phased out.  Even I dont like to see a brand getting neutered like that.

Toyota stopped using a solid axle in 85.  They were available over sees till 95 though. :(

And not that your jeep is inferior at all but I dare you to follow me anywhere offroad.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

chevyguy

Cmon, I dont want to hurt your feelings, Come on up here to the oregon coast. Not even worrying about the trails, the sand dunes kill 4 bangers everyday. Power is a requirement my friend. So put up, or well,,,,,,.And as for trail rides, it gets pretty nasty up here. I aint skeered.

WHITE_TRASH

Damnit foiled by forgetting about the sand...  :hahaha:

As far as trails go have ya ever been to Rimrock or Naches?  And dont go spouting about TSF, Ive been there MANY a time and there isnt much left to wheel there that hasnt been blocked off and closed.  Even before that it was only fun in the snow and mud. ;)

Havent really wheeled anywhere in california.Been working up a trip this summer though. Been to tellico about 20 times, and I have wheeled all over the carilonas. Now getting used to the terrain out here. Not a goopy when its wet, but not as slick with clay either. i want to check out maob sometime, but havent had the chance yet. Lookin forward to it this summer though.

Ive been places with my heep that I couldn't go w/my yota. But It was mostly B-cuz  of the power and short W/B of the CJ5

I got a big warn winch too. Unfortunately there isnt alot out in the dubes to winch to.. On another note, Nice harley, I have a dyan wide glide myself. Good to meet another harley owner on this board.

I really dont know why you guys have to compare a jeep and a Toyota because it is really the driver that makes the diffrence.....................well half the time

i have also been places with my heep where i cant go with my yota......but thats because it was a built xj and i have a stock 4runner now hahaha. If they both had the same amount of money in them my runner would stop my old heep on anything.

i agree with that statement very much. I have friends with wheelers worth more than my dirtbike and my rig and they cant do anything.

furrballs95

sry to say but the power or engine in your rig has nothing to do with were it can go or wat cant or can do or who can fallow they make this little thing called gears and transfer case reduction boxes. do you think that are skills evole just becasue we have a better built rig sry to say but its all the driver in my view point. i have a bone stock toyota p/u for now and i have takin that thing many places people wouldn't try, eventhough i may hvae come close to puttin it on its side a few times. but wheelin is all about the driver theres alot more to weelin than just how bad ass your rid is. and ya ifs may suck but there was a tracker on ther ultimate adventure that went every single place that all the solid axles have gone.

Willy Mammoth

Engine power does matter when you have deep thick mud that plugs up your tires.

The only way you are going to do anything is to spin the tires fast enough to clean them out. Also until you try to climb a slippery slope with low gears, you don't now you are under powered.

On a side note, we are all interested in wheeling are we not? It doesn't matter what you decide to wheel. If you like Toyota's wheel a Toyota, If you like Jeep's wheel a Jeep. And if you like both, build a Mammoth.

I think no matter what you decide to wheel you should be respected for your choice and not bashed for choosing a differant make than what you think is right.

peace out,
Mark

i would say its mainly about the driver, but the vehicle does play a roll in where you can go. Maybe not whether its a jeep or toyota but what you do to them WILL make a difference when you start doing some sketchy shirt.

Keep in mind I have only 65 hp at best. Not the greatest for  muddy hill climbs or highway speeds, but does nice on rock climbing with the lower gears.

I wasn't looking to build an all out bad ass rig that could blast through everything. Rather I wanted something that would take me places and get me home again without breaking. We all know what too much HP can do to parts. You just have to learn what you can and can't do. And use the winch for when you forget.

We talked about this earlier. I stated power IS a requirement out here in oregon on the sand or in the trail. Never mentioned rock crawling. If you see my post in introductions you will see I have built most vehicles for mud and trails until this one which I built for trails and sand dunes. My newest jeep 92 wrangler is gonna be my first real crawler buuilt with only crawling in mind. On a side note. I came across a toyota (80ish) tonight at my frinds place with a diesel motor in it. The usualy transmission problems but the motor ran good. I can pick it up or almost nothing. Considering my options there? Diesel crawler Very interesting concept
