use a small mirror  and make sure ALL  the bolts  are out of the intake,  then  you can  pry it up  from the rear i think

Here is a little look at how I am fixifying my ghetto Predator carb...
First a look into the fuel bowl with the fuel delivery "mechanism."
The float is beat and I am missing the fittings for fuel lines.  Gonna make my own so I can adjust the fuel flow a bit.

Here you can see the overflow tube...this also acts as a pitot tube pressurizing the fuel bowl.  I wanted to keep the pressure lower so I closed off a couple of the holes on the inside of the tube.  Don't know that it will have any effect, but worth a try.

Under $5 fix for the float...yep...JB WELD!

Then tapped the holes for my new "Fittings".

Now for what we have all been waiting!  Tomorrows project:  Get the distributor to move!

The valve covers are the old ones with white ceramic heat paint.
The intake manifold is an Al Edelbrock unit I picked up off Ebay.

I bet it is like one forth of the weight of the old cast iron one. Did you get a good deal on it?

Lets start with the good news...

THE DISTRIBUTOR MOVES!!!!


Now for the bad: 
Something weird happened to the white paint.  It is flaking off.  I wire wheeled the valve covers and wiped them down with lacquer thinner before paint so I know they were pretty clean.
Was it the weather?  Maybe instead of curing it was too cold and the paint froze??

Carb is ready to go.
Got the fuel line fitting drilled out and plugged the bottom vacuum port.



Accelerator pump...not too complicated, eh?


Adjusted the float to work with my new fitting:
Open, float is down

Closed, float is up


Cover goes back on:


All done and ready to run!
