Wermz84

dorky question but here goes anyway.

Gonna be running the Marling Suspension kit with the 4" springs, but what I was wondering has anyone used the Johnny Joint shackle with that set up on the rear?  I am interested in the extra flex, and overall i have read good things about them.   Just wondering how they would work together, and what kind of issues i would have.

:cheese:

Good Johnny joint thread.

all of yer questions are dorky  :cheese:

MINI has them and they work good I think the only problem was mounting them they werent easy well the first one was a little difficult then the second one was no problem I made a special tool to compress the joint in if ya want it its yours so let me know if yer gonna do this  they allow the spring to move side to side so the spring dont bind, ya gonna run the pivioting spring perches too like Big Mike and MINI ???

so... any updates...?

This is what I got done Yesterday.   Shaffer's Tube doors,    [Quagmire voice]  OoooYeaahh  [/Quagmire voice]

Took me the better part of the day  because the driver side door was hitting the fender.  :haha:
Let me go on record here and say that it was no fault of the tube door construction.  I have alway had problems with the driver door hitting the fender.  So I had the fender off and had all of the bolts loose, until I got everything aligned just right without the two hitting each other.  Now I just need to get some foam pads.  where do I get that :dunno:

Nice profile view,

If you look at the top you'll see how close it gets.  the best it could get.  The passenger side was perfect.

I like how beefy they are

Wermz, if you go to your local hardware store, they've got foam pipe insulation in different sizes.  Its exactly what you need

:psss:  I too have issues with my driver's door hitting my fender occasionally.  I have found that the fender actually needs to come out about 1/8"-1/2"   There is a bolt missing at the bottom of my fender with a hole that doesn't quite match up with the body hole.  I have a feeling that is the cause of mine.  :dunno:  might check that?  I haven't ever cared enough to compare to the pass. side, I just stick my fingers in the gap when the door is open, and pull it out when it drags.

Cool thanks.  I'll do that this week, and get Blingn to PM me some CHP approved zipties.

I checked all the bolt holes, every bolt is in, they all line up and there was room for me to fudge it around some. :yesnod:  I also did bend it out some over my knee while holding the top and bottom of the fender in my hands, and a few taps with a hammer.   :disturbed:  While the fender was off I held it up against the passenger side to compare and it seemed like they didn't roll enough steel back.  the curves werent quite the same at the top.  hope this makes sense.        thanks for the idea though.  :yesnod:

Thanks RS!   Was gonna do the Buy the Tranny and install that and the T-case next, but I can do that in a weekend, Easy.  Only 4 months to the round up, So I am leaning toward focusing on the Lift next.  :yesnod:  That will take far longer for me.  Coordinating with someone who can weld and a place to do the work.   I feel I should start this next.

Waiting to hear from the smog shop right now to make sure there are no suprises..   Then I'll know where My money will go next.  :woohoo:  I cant wait.

:psss:  those last two post are funny   :silly:
