what did you go with?

and, yes I meant welder pics. :gap:

Twisted Minis

I bought a Lincoln Precision 225. It was between that and the Miller Syncrowave 200. And in the end, the Lincoln puts out more power, has a few more settings that appeal to me more, and draws less power at highest output. So now I have 3 different color machines in my garage.

^ Lol..

Heres a good driving shot from the trip back from Reso.

Thats about the coolest thing my truck does. Other than that its useless.

I also bought a new TIG welder today, and a new bottle, lots of wire and tungsten. It was between that and buying an 81 4WD. I figured the TIG would be less of a money pit. So back to saving money again. Lol.
Waiting on the trick work going into the 81 4WD.

Next time I work up another 3 grand I might actually buy one. I've been "looking" for like 2 years. I just can't seem to commit to it. I'm afraid I'll go and dump 10 grand into it right away and then have something else I can't drive every day. Lol.

Heres a stock photo to hold you guys over until the weekend.

I just pray it actually shows up Friday.

TIG welding is fun, learned at work. One day I will go and buy myself one  :yesnod:

Got the welder all set up. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it.

are you using filler with those or just dragging both pieces together?  they do look nice though.

I'm using 1/16" filler, 3/32 Red tungsten and 120 amps on .188 steel. I think I need to ease off on the heat or add some more filler. Little too much undercut on the fillet welds.

I'm about 4 hours deep into practice. I have heard you need 20 to be proficient. I think I'll get the hang of it soon.

I love your build!! My first truck was a low rider `81 toy!!  That thing was old school lowered. It would take off the road reflectors!! :talkingn:  The tig setup is cool but, I am a die hard Miller man, soo I won't say anything about your lincoln!  :therethere:   I have a sycrowave 250. I have had it for a few years and yet to use it  :shake:. I just got the rest of the parts I needed to get it usable. I am a little nervous to actually use it!! :talkingn:  Keep the pics coming!! 8)

I built some control arms today and then mocked one up. On final assembly it will get a single .250" thick washer on the inside of the bushings, rather than two .125" washers, and I will make an aluminum or stainless washer for the outside that is the correct size for the new bushings. I just put them together with the stock parts for now.

Now I get to cut off the old front bag brackets and make new ones...

You got some skills bro!  I'm an old mini-trucker too.  I still have my '90 Hardbody kingcab that I used to show back in the late '90s but its been sitting in storage quite a few years (couple pics on my myspace).  I never got the title from the finance company so I think I'm finally just gonna part it out and cut up the rest to fund my trail project. I love your truck and with the skills you are demonstrating this thing is gonna be bad A when you get it done. Cant wait to see more pics as the progress continues. Keep at it!

^ Lol, nice.

I needed a really low profile muffler for this thing, and couldn't really find one small enough, so I made one.

Will do. I put it on the truck today. Just need to put the wiring harness back in, and hook up the fuel lines before I can try to turn it over.

SO WHEN ARE WE GONNA GO WHEELIN'? Just kidding, Great work so far!! I like 2wd yotas....Just not as much as I like 4wd's. Get a bed and drop a 2jz-gte in it. Don't put in a v-8, keep it True Yota Power!!!!
By the time I get the money for an SAS I'll be 65 at this rate!

I have a bed on my truck now. Lol. I'll probably just swap to a 22RE at some point.

Wow...very nice.

What everyone else said, very interested to here how it sounds. How did you come up with that design for the internals? Did you design it similar to a production muffler (ie flowmaster, magnaflow, etc) or did you just come up with it on your own? I must say, your ingenuity never ceases to amaze me.

The idea was a combination of a lot of things I have seen. Mostly based on a Flowmaster, since they are the ones know to use baffles, but only loosely. They also don't use any packing, and I wanted it to be quieter than a Flowmaster because thats what this had before and it was obnoxious.

Aside from that, I basically laid some welding wire on top to figure out where I wanted the baffles, and took measurements off that and went to town.

Well I signed the lease for the new shop today, got some keys and opened it up. I'm going to have the electricity turned on today, and it will get wired for all my 220 stuff this Sunday. The following week I need to get some work benches built. I have a 3x8 top with breaks in it, 1/8" thick for a table along the back wall. Along with my TIG table, the welders and drill press. Then I get to start moving stuff in, and pretty soon build a new frame table. I'm excited. This means I get to start on the frame for my 30 soon.

I'm going to have an open house the third week of July, with free food and free soda.
