I have considered chopping it. I have mixed opinions on it because of making glass fit the sides.

how much air is under the front fender? It looks like the bed is pretty much on the ground, so how much do you expect to gain?

On my truck? That parking spot is really wavy and my truck sits weird. It lays dead flat in other spots, and the bed is about 3/4" off the ground. For some reason in that spot my front end doesn't lay and it pushed my bedsides up.

It lays quite flat.

I am building a new lower profile frame, and I plan to cut about 3/4" off the bottom of the rocker, leaving about 1" of them left.

My hourly rate is pretty cheap. That hood will remain around $500 after its metal finished.

However having a low hourly rate, means I cannot afford my own work. Lol.

Sure, that air cleaner looks cool, but do you really want your engine breathing in hot air from the exhaust?

Not really, but it will get airflow from the grill as well.

The air cleaner isn't meant to look cool, its just meant to fit under the hood. Because of the way the owner wanted the cowl built it left no room for the stock air cleaner, and he asked me to make something along these lines. That was the only space I could fit that air filter. The engine bay is quite cramped.

Also its got 45 horsepower, not likes its a raging performance machine.

2wd engines are pretty much the same as 4x4s...... also, it still is a toyota..... 2wd or 4wd it is still a toyota truck, the 2wd is very similar to the 4wd ifs trucks as well... trucks in general are pretty similar between makes.....

twisted minis also likes the 4x4s as well, and i am sure he will build one one day....

i joined this site when i had a 2wd..... i now have a 4wd toyota

The more i thought about it i cam to the same conclusion, a yota is a yota, no matter where you can take it, its actually makes me want to get a 2wd grocery getter, im starting to get some good ideas about it, i wouldnt be going that low though. im also wondering if there is enough basic mods that could be done to a 22r/e to make it quick? it could be a fun build. and i wasnt doggin on the mini by anymeans, i just didnt expect to find anything like that here. little red looks good too.

I saw it more as another Toyota enthusiast of a slightly different "breed". I am not into minis but this guy has some awesome fab work and I think anyone can appreciate the level of his work, mini trucker or not. I know after reading through this I was totally unaware of some of the work that goes into these low riders. I kinda always viewed them as cheap hack jobs but now I know better. I see it more as him sharing another degree of fab work that most of us on here may never have even thought about. Thats why I like this post.

i agree with this, i've seen some pretty janky lowriders, but seth's work is awesome.... i am sure he would apply that level of fabwork to anything he touches as well, seth has expressed he wants a 4x4 eventually, i have no doubt his 4x4 would be awesome

I originally posted this thread because a few people showed interest in seeing my truck. I kept it going because the interest seemed to stay.

I still look on here and CL for a 4WD first gen. The problem is nothing stands out when I have money, and when I don't everything looks good.

As far as hopping up a 22R/RE a Cam and either a carb or bigger throttle body, as well as an ignition system, and a header makes them really responsive. Mines fast for what it is.

I will pass on the word about the Edelbrock intake.

im building a 22r right now and it should end up with about 180 horsepower with my ignition and intake and all the internals. i dunno if my truck will be fast enough though...:disturbed:

Also just got a lift in the shop. Got it wired and filled with fluid yesterday. Nailed it down today and started using it. What a task it was setting it up. I had forgotten how heavy these where from when I installed them for a living... Lol.

Its a 70s Benwil. You can see a few pictures of it int he post above too. It works great. Not my first choice (Rotary), but I am very happy with it, and I am not sure how I worked without one before.
