cody if your not running ac then just use that as onboard air. if you do it right its way more legit than some slow ass electric pump. i spent about 100$ for all the crap for to make mine.

I have two A/C pumps and lines :gap:

whats the best writeup and simpliest way to do it.
to run the lines back to a holding tank in the rear.

I have always wanted to do that.
it would be cheaper and it would be way better, I agree.

just check out the first page of my thread i show pics and talk about it the pictures pretty much show it all the only thing that may be confusing if how to wire up the pressure switch but even that's a piece of cake when you have it in front of you. im not running a tank though, but i make it where it will be easy to add one when i come across it.

How long does it take you to fill one 35 with your AC onboard air? The only thing keeping me from doing it is that I figured it would be slow as flopp with a 4 banger....

ya if you took hella time to find an open spot and make a bracket, its would be pointless though

to me its pretty fast, once i have it going i adjust my idler screw real fasst to keep my rpms at like 1200 which makes it go a lott faster. id say i can fill up 1 37" tire from 4psi to 35psi in around 4 minutes. and thats with a regular ac pump if you take the time to mount a york compressor on its quit a bit better from what iv heard. but iv seen 2-3 electric pumps be used and mines always faster than those. usually i just spend 10 minutes to bring all my tires to like 15-20 psi so i can drive home fine and fill them up later. i cant even begin to tell you how much of a life saver it is though. besides my tools thats the second most used/needed thing when we go wheelin. there's been a few time where people in our groups would have been totally f-ed without oba.

so you can run dual ac pumps?

you could.

there is a few writeups on hooking up a york for OBA and mounting the stock AC pump above it to retain the A/C.
so I am sure you could run dual PUMPS. lol

I have two.... from both 87 22RE's
one is caked in oil and on the work bench lol and the other is clean and on the engine I just pulled.
Ill use that one.

it wouldnt be to long to air up tires.

I dont run over 20-25psi anyways.

If you mount a York it would be pointless to use the ac pump as an extra air compressor. The york will put out I believe close to twice as much air as the stock ac pump. If I was to go this route I would just use the York for OBA. Then stock pump for ac and laugh at everybody thats goin down the trail sweatin their asses off. haha

I was using the york & ac pump combo as an example.

Now I just have to decide if I want to retain my AC and actually fix it for next summer, or just say F-it and turn it to OBA. I mean I have owned the truck for 5 years now and the AC has been broken that whole time, so really why not just turn it into a OBA set up.

well I did fix the hole, it leaks a little bit. I walked out from school today and there was no gear oil on the ground just like 2 drops hangin off the bottom of the housing.

I am still going on monday, but I am not sure if you want to. My father in law is going in his jeep, my cuz is going in his 4runner, and my uncle is going in his ext cab. So it is like a family affair. You are more than welcome to go but I would understand if you dont want to. No one from the board is going.
