I got to see this rig first hand at Tuesday night's Central Valley Crawler's club meeting in Tulare. It looks even better in person!! :_order: :_order: Awesome work Talon! Here are some pics!!

1st pic: truck looks great!
2: These utility boxes are awesome and work great. Rotate the d-ring counterclockwise to open both boxes.
3-5: Full 4Runner seat with TONS of leg room for rear passengers
6: floor board and tunnel look really great, nice work for sure
7: These half doors are awesome. I love the latch mechanism, you can close the doors and they auto-latch shut. Very nice
8: Bed line is really cool

I can't wait to get it on the trail, and i'll be taking care of it as best I can. I've been contemplating a buggy or f-toy build in the future as well

I thought about it, but from the research I did not only are they really heavy (around 700 lbs dry IIRC) for our minis, they're also pretty low reving. A lighter and higher rpm 1.9 tdi with some bolt on power would be a better diesel option in our smaller & gear reduced trucks in my opinion

At the same time, a 3.4 in our pickups rocks. My friend's 84 w/3.4 pulls the hills into the mountains without a single problem with power to spare on 37's. Passing no longer an issue at all.

Right now i'd take either, smog kicks my butt every time and it's just a bi-annual headache. Rebuilding my carb at the moment and just wish I had the time and money to do either swap and not have to hassle with it anymore, power would be nice too

A sort of update..

Finally rebuilt the carb, it's running better than ever (knock on wood). I need to re-run the exhaust from the cat back so it doesn't hit the gas tank. Then it will be smog time so i can get my tags. I'll be getting some exhaust tubing tomorrow and seeing what i can do to route it around the ford tank, i'm thinking along the frame. Once it's smogged it will be time for sliders, bumpers, spare carrier

Got some other things done, built myself a welding table

played around with the sand blaster and left my mark, i don't have my own shop but hope to in the future

built a housing jig for welding trusses, still needs the jack, hardware and chain

got contracted to finish these half doors for a friend

and just for fun tried to make a dirt board from old parts i had laying around
