just mounted up the reduction box to the adaptor  , but now the shifter with the key stock welded to it does not want to slide in and out very easy, seems just too tight do you ever have to modify shifter rod?

I had to grind my shifter down a little to fit.

Mine was the same way, don't grind any off that'll just take it out of round and maybe cause it to bind or wear the housing funny (if you shifted that lever alot that is) I just greased the shaft up really good and slowly worked it in there. Another thing you'll notice is that when your trying to shift the gears with the box dry it's really hard to get them to engage in the different gears.  Dont force em just make sure you followed the instructions that marlins gives you and the ones here on line in the tec section.  Once you get them back in the truck with gear oil and run the engine for a min they loosen up alot, and it's easier to shift that first box.

When i was doing mine, it got to the point where i couldn't shift the rear box into anything but 2 hi and 4 hi. The tranny was empty also and it wouldn't go into anything but reverse,  That worried me... but after they got put in the truck with the 80-90 w and i idled the engine for a min everything worked well.

Also remember that all those gears have to mesh up just right and even in stock form with oil they are sometimes a pain in the ass to put in and out of gear. Just gotta get them to line up and the engine will help do that for you.

Hope this helps man :)

No man i don't think i'll make it next weekend, i'm still waiting for marlin to get their budbuilts in so i can have 4wd.  Right now the front shaft would never clear the stock x-member.

That's pretty funny those videos of your truck mobbing up the rocks.  Did no body else try it up that hill?

red

alot did, i was the 4th attempt. the green wrangler and the red cherokee that had the trimmed fenders were the only other ones to make it up. i was 1st to make it and (again) the least built rig to do it. when i tried it i was just goofing around, figured not a chance of me making it up after seeing the 1st 3 rigs try it (black fj cruiser and 2 other built cherokees). got the carb to stay running and nearly crawled up it haha, only turning about 1500rpm's.

I had to grind mine ALOT. There was some serious knuckle to gusset contact on the top. The bottom was pretty much fine but you can see where I had to grind the top. There is not much gusset left on the top. The space between the axle tube and ball is covered so I guess its ok. I also have TG rock rings on the inside of the knuckle further decreasing clearance. I guess marlin and TG parts are not compatible lol :dunno: its alot easier to grind most of the material off before welding and it really sucks if you get the knuckle all installed and then realize it dont turn. ask me how I know

hey i was wondering... who makes your top axle armor?

That would look cool. I've been thinking of asking Sky if they'd be willing to do a special one for me for extra $$$ and doing the same thing, Also only having it cut out on just the front.

oh my god red that was the biggest damn story of my life! haha you barely barely made it up that! the reason you were supposedly at such a low rpm is because your carb was probably dumping gas right on the ground! im sure 99 % of the people could have made it up that if they didnt care what there rigs looked like at the end! come on man brag if its worthy if not pray no one ever sees it..... I think most people will see the humor in this!

pats runy would have walked over that speed bump
