i think the flares look good... even a bigger plus if you live in an area that enforces flares/mudflaps

I say nay on the flares....they increase width....increasing potential for body damage. Have you ever seen one ripped off a truck? It aint pretty

I'm not too worried about ripping them of. Looking at NATs bushwackers it would take a lot to rip them off the fender, and if i get the close to something then i'll find a way to get around it or i wont go up it.  It's still my DD and i try to keep it as straight as possible. Even though that's pointless with this sport.  Thanks for you input though gangsta.

where i'm at i've gotten two tickets (a week apart) for not having mud flaps or fender flares and even got my frame height measured and springs checked for block stacking!! But ever since i put my sweet marlin mud flaps on cops don't even look twice at my rig.

I'm starting to lean towards functionality more than looks on the runner with these flares.  It really gets old when you spend $10 on a car wash and to have it get dirty again as soon as you pull out of the wash stall.  Now i maybe sound kinda mall crawler here but i really enjoy having a good looking truck around town and people comment on how nice and clean my truck is.  Another thing, the rust on the rear passenger fender is getting really bad and the other side is fiber glassed so cutting the fenders won't work either.  With these flares i can get the rust stopped on the passenger side by cutting what ever out of it seal it up nice shoot some paint over the bare sheet metal slap these on and you'd never see the cut!

So thanks guys for all your input, it helped bring up good points to think about so i'm gonna order them up once my money builds back up and put em on.  If there is anything else that you guys could see as a problem please speak up! I'm always down for opinions and ideas. :)

THK Matt

i agree on the washing part of it.
i hate washing it and as soon as i take off.. dirty street crud all over it.

yeah im down to use my truck, but im into a NICE & CLEAN looking truck.

i dont see any other problems with them.

Agreed, just because you have a tight ride that'll go almost anywhere doesn't mean that your ride can't look good doin it. I enjoy my runner looking clean and nice also, It may not be as built as some, but it also doesn't look like it was just driven out of the scrap yard to the trail either.

You should go for the flares, I think that they look good w/ your paint color.

patric have you been pulled over for needing fender flares? if cost is the main concern or your concerned about tickets you cold get some of that gardening trim from lowes or home depo and cut that as needed to use as fender flares. somebody on rockymountainextreme.com did that on his jeep, its flexible, dirt cheap, and made his rig legal.

:shake_head:   did i really just read that?   red come one man he just got done saying he liked his ride looking clean and beautiful.. just cause you stole your front bumper from someones house (flagpole) doesnt mean the rest of the world is/can/or pull off using random crap.. why doesnt he just use some poster board from walmart?     :screwy: Dont get me wrong red.. the white flagpole works fine with your paint schemeS and you did a good job but trim for a flowerbed thats a tad too low.  :twocents:    :outtahere:

i only replied with that because somebody mentioned tickets for not having fender flares and pat mentioned money being an issue right now. not my idea either, i may come up with some redneck ideas for those that are poor but even i didnt come up with that. heres the quote from the other forum.
"Posts: 345  I had to pass so I bought some flaps at checker. welded a 1/2 square tube to the frame and bolted the flap to that.

For the flares I went to home depot in the garden section. Get the lawn trim edging. You cut the looped end and put it in the wheel well and use self tapping screws. Then you cut the flare down to size. The edging for flares is 8" for 20 feet and that will get your vehicle done with spare."

does it look good? no (cheapo flares idea his 4runner looks very good) but if your gettin pulled over or have a fix it ticket and dont have the cash to do it properly its a cheap/quick way to take care of it. not everybody has money all the time or can afford to wait for something, ever wonder why i'm driving a ugly as hell $300 blazer instead of a nice looking one? i like it when a rig looks really good but i havent been able to afford it, thats what my motorcycle is for right now.

lol bumper wont stay that color, too cold to paint it and its nowhere near finished.

same here, little concerned about bending the corners of the pipe because its incomplete but i had no issues from last weeks wheelin trip and i hammered it at a couple areas with no issues. once i get the trailer finished in the next few days i'll try to get the outside edge mounts taken care of.

you gonna put some caps on the ends? I would weld one then put a trap door on the other so you can lift it up and slide your beers in there?

red

:funny: not get any last night pat?

hahahaha good idea pete but i'm gonna use the pipe as an air storage tank instead. it'l get capped but the cap will go all the way back to the front of the wheel well. gotta wait though because i only have 1 1/2 weeks left till i'm in Texas.

do you think you can hold enough air in that little thing to air up 4 tires? Or are you planning on running a lil compressor to it all the time?
_[O!!!!!O]_

loading pics from my camera. 1st time i've had a weld fail (bumper), not near enough heat aparantly since it only penetrated about 1/3rd of the way through the steel. thats what i'm testin it for though, taken a pounding before today and got one more good hit on that edge before it broke. our cameraman fearofrunner got some really good video this time, hopefully yall can get the film uploaded to photobucket and share it, would like to see how tipsy my blazer was going through that tight spot we found today along that rock wall. did anybody ever find out what the clicking noise was from allan's runner? overall a fun trip and muddy haha.

warning 89 pics haha, would be more but batteries went dead. http://s193.photobucket.com/albums/z277/redhead1987/5mp%20022408/
