I'm just glad my company pay's for a large majority of my fuel consumption. Only thing I have to fill up is the wife's Jeep...

Now how could they tax by the mile? Are they that stupid to not realize that I'd be disconnecting my speedo when I drive 60 miles round trip a day to work? Yeah that will work.

Then they'll have a 'Being Healthy' tax.......
Um, don't look over your shoulder but Arizona is considering just such a law right now! Sucks when you think you are making a joke of something by using another absurd example of something stupid. Sometimes it befuddles the mind at how stupid our government can get.

Quit twisting the words to suit your agenda, they wouldn't tax you for being healthy, but they would tax you for your carbon footprint so if you jog you'd have a bigger impact on nature so yes I guess they would tax that too.

why not change people who cant take care of themselves or choose to smoke an extra fee or tax? It is their own choice or fault in the first place. They put a huge burden on Medicaid as it is
Colorado...its where the cool kids live

Rocksurfer

Oh maybe because in the United States we have the freedom of choice and not the choice of the government to tax the very air we breath.

FYI I don't smoke, don't drink and though I may not be at my prime weight I am not at all fat so you can rule out that thought

But, the Supreme Court recently ruled that the EPA (especially penile agency?) can regulate carbon dioxide...so...if they can regulate our exhaled breath the can regulate the inhaled breath. Soon we'll have to get a permit (at least y'all in Cali might) to breathe.

I hope it hits $6 a gallon. I think that will finally cause people to snap and say enough is enough. I just saw a news article yesterday saying that even with the price increase, consumption has stayed the same. More reason for them to keep raising it. I can't even afford to drive anywhere but to work and back anymore. This is ridiculous.

Watched a clip of a news reporter interviewing people at the pump and a guy pumping gas said, "Oh, it's raised nearly 50-cents a gallon over the last week? I haven't looked at the prices yet." What an idiot!! :maddest:

It's about time we all start writing our representatives.  Because they keep blaming the gas prices on people driving hybrid cars and such, but while the amount of gas being used hasn't gone down.  I'd love to buy a fuel efficient car to drive around in, but there is no way I could afford buying one.

It's all an conspiracy!!  Every time the prices goes down, something happens, ie. Refinery fire, tanker ship issue, weather issue, and so on.  Watch it, if the prices goes down, something will happen to help drive it up.

I agree. I know you're in Oregon, and it's worse in California with gas costing more than 80 cents above the national average. All because California requires "special" gas. I can't believe there hasn't been a public uproar and a grassroots movement demanding that California use exactly the same gas as the rest of the country. Maybe when it goes to $10 - $12 people will get fed up enough to do something about it.  :blah:

I'm so glad we bought my wife a car that gets 40mpg.....

People need to cut back but it'll never happen...lazy......we'll complain.. and still pay it.. so it won't change.

I fill up the tank about once a month.

So glad I have a company vehicle..and the company I work for is in the same town I live in. So if I do have to drive my truck (rarely)..it's only 6 miles across town.
:pokinit: is ridiculous...I remember when $20 would get you 3/4 a tank in a Yota...now it barely gets you between quarter and a half tank if your on E(and didnt empty the reserve below E)....

Doesn't help work is semi-slow right now...pretty much workin to pay the bills and have nothin left over!!

Look for an old vw diesel. Then you'll get 40-60mpg for under 2k if you look hard enough.

Cheesemaker

I live close enough to work I should be bicycling to work.  But after 10 hours a day, and most of the ride time is in the dark, I have to drive.  Even a fuel efficient vehicle doesn't get good mileage around here.  Because the average person is driving less than 5 miles to work and around town.  Your engine hasn't warmed up yet when you arrive at your destination.

I've looked for a VW diesel pickup, but most of them are beat to :pokinit:, or they want mint for them because they know what they got.

Yesterday it cost me $42 for a full tank of $4.899 premium for my Supercharged MR2. This marks the first time since I've been driving the car in June of 1999 that a full tank has cost over $40 (full tank is about 9 gallons, gets me 300 miles). It feels like I am getting gas from some remote isolated gas station waaaay up in the mountains.

Cheesy, Oregonians don't count as they are incapable of driving over 35 miles per hour.

If it weren't for deer season, I'd still be filling up every 3 weeks or so.  As it is, I'm using at least a full tank a week, and I may have a bad sensor or something cause I seem to be getting worse mileage lately.

I am about to the point of paying the back registration on the motorbike and riding it for work and errands, but riding in traffic makes me :shudder: any more with the way people drive.  Especially people of the female persuasion...

High fuel cost has really hurt my wheeling budget. I live no where close to any good wheeling. It's 3+ hours to get anywhere good. It docent matter if I tow or drive my rig. It's to expensive now days. Sucks!! My rig gets out of the garage 4 times a year if I'm lucky. Every week I argue w/ myself on if I should keep it our sell it.
Just happy not not be paying those California prices. Reg 87oct is 3.40 something and diesel is between 3.79 and 3.89 here.
