That isnt even close the the full count!  I counted a couple years ago there were 27 rigs of which 4 actually were driveable!  Count again.  This is like wheres waldo, there is a 66 Chevelle Malibu SS sitting next to the garage, a 69 chevy 2x in front of the farthest yota and the remains of the 81 and thebed from the 94 loaded in a trailer on hte other side of Shawn's truck.

what ever happened to the 81?

What happened to the 81 is a long story I pulled the bed to do the rear suspension and thought the frame was bent.  Well long story short I got this truck for super cheap and stripped the 81.  Now here we are. 

I built the sliders and welded them on, thanks to ShawnB!  I have killed 2 HF grinders in this project and borrowed his, today it died.  So without a way to cut metal I was totally screwed!  Shawn came over to help on the truck, seeing my problem decided to drive 20 miles to Wally marche' and buy a grinder so I could get this thing done!!  I just hope that all of you have a friend that will go above and beyond the call of duty such as he has done repeatedly for me!  THANK YOU SHAWN!!!

I also built 3/8th's gussets under the winch plate to sorta act a a skid and strengthen the plat itself.

The 85 I bought is blue also!  Out of the 7 yotas here 5 are blue or have blue parts on them.  Its a conspiracy I tell ya!

so did you cut out the rockers for the sliders or did you just notch them were the supports went threw or did you not have to do anything cuz i looked at my runner and it looks like you would have to cut out the rockers our at least notch them

Ive got a 3/4" solid nylon body lift that lets the sliders clear by about 3/8"

I made my sliders with 2 x 2 1/4" square and use 4" x 1 1/2" channel the notched the channel so it slid under the frame

that sounds like a good idea im gonna build some in a couple of weeks at my buddies cuz i dont have a welder yet and he's got one so ill make some do you mind if i copy your idea a bit for when i make mine? cuz they way you did yours looks easy and very durable and the best part cheap

ShawnB priced the tube to build himself a set before I told him of my stockpile, all the metalshops want $125.  Thats just for the steel! Thank God mine was free
Well boys the truck will be in the shop tomorrow for the cage and exhaust,  Ill be sure to take my camera so you can get a ant eye view of the undercarriage.  I already built the floor plates for both the top and bottom of the floor.  I built the sliders with the frame bars lined up with where I was gonna put the plates.  Suprisingly my guesstimate was right on and it lines up real well.  The top plate is 6x6x1/4 plate while the underside is 4x5x1/2.  So it might be a little overkill but Id rather have a overkill cage then a White Trash kill one!!

Yup if you hadent guessed yet I didnt get my cage installed so I just gave up on competing, come to find out not only did I NOT need a cage but I also did NOT need to finish my winchplate!  So I could mount the winch on it.  Needless to say I was not the happiest guy at the event when I found out the news that after working my A$$ off for 3 month I got shot down because of the rules page never being updated!  Hell ShawnB was a course judge and he was given a even older set of rules than what is posted on the Calcrocs website!  But it was a fun time for all and I got to meet a lot of people from this board and others, thanx for the good time!

Ive got another 12 months before Goldendale rolls around again so just imagine what Ill get done before then!

Heck in 12 mouths he'll have 20 or 30 trucks to take parts off of and will more than likly have 3 or 4 trucks ready to compeat. of corse by then they"ll change the rules again , not tell anyone and shut him down at the starting line!

I think Im going to funny rocks for the weekend of the 4th, that will be the first real test for the truck.  Ive still got lots of little crap to figure out but Hopefully Ill cage it before I go so I can roll it!
