A quick update..

Got the tail lights in and remembered to take a pic with a light on so you can see them... :talkingn:  They actually fit in there almost too well..  I'm stoked about that.

Picked up a set of doors for $20 in GREAT shape other than one having a busted out batwing glass but my beat to flop doors have good glass so I'm good there.

Measuring to the top of the door and then to the top of the roof on my full cab that's going on I get 75".  Not bad considering the front of the frame is raised up about 1 1/2" over normal ride height so it'll be right about the same height as before with no roof.  :cheer:

I picked up a spare short box that came with a dual tube smittybilt rear bumper and roll bar...  Took the roll bar out then the plastic bedliner then the rubber floor mat... Under the floor mat I was happy to find that someone had covered the whole floor in 1/8" aluminum...  ::bling:

That saves me a whole bunch of money on new door panels and a full aluminum dash.

Ok so another rather productive day.

The bed is bobbed another 5" so now it is short be length so I can put a canopy on it eventually, the new cab is set on there and the front bed mounts are built and burned in.

Apparently the tan cab was a 2x cab...  To make the trans fit the floor the heater box had to be removed so I could cut under it for the bellhousing to clear, well on this cab the tunnel is fawking ginormous so it barely had to be cut and there is about 2" of clearance between the top of the trans and the floor..   That was fawking SWEET to find.

With the body on and the front suspension ratchet strapped down a touch to put it back to the height it started at before the hacking began again and it is 74" to the top of the roof just what it was with no roof and a 3/4" body lift.  It does have a 1/2" body lift right now to make the passenger seat a bit easier to mount but I'm really thinking about taking it out and just doing the extra work to the seat.

Yea it's finally starting to come together again.  I need to order the yj spring bushings so I can finish the mounts for the trans and t cases and build a trans and engine skid plate with the cab off then I'll be able to start putting it all together so it can be ready for memorial weekend.

Well hell I guess it's time to update this...

Nothing that looks too major to look at but I did get the new mount built for the trans and the crossmember is completely reworked with the beginnings of the trans pan guard added.

Cut out the back of the cab and unbolted/drilled the lower spotwelds to take the front of the bed off and made a spacer out of 1" square tube and bolted the bed and cab together.  Also made a crossmember for the back wall of the cab that will have the tunnel and floor frame attached to it and the cage when it's all said and done.

You can also see that the rear driveline is about 6" too long but the front is just fine.  Oh and the lower part of that rear crossmember will get cut out I just haven't gotten that far yet.

If my bed didn't have rust holes the size of my fist in it, I would cut out the back of the cab and bolt it to the bed like that. Run a couple seats back there or something. I like it

Heck if you were closer I'd give you a sweet second gen bed rather than scrapping it. :talkingn:

You need to drop the floor of the bed down a few inches or the rear passengers will be staring at the back edge of the roof.. :gap:

Too bad you never drive out this way eh? I would snatch that bed up in a heartbeat!

Easy fix... mount the seats backwards, or maybe facing each other like the old station wagons haha

Ok yet again I made good progress again today.  Went to the steel yard first thing this am and picked up another stick of 1x.120" tube to build the floor out of.  Drivers side will retain the seat rails so my wife can drive it too but the passenger side will likely get them removed.

I need to pull the 231 apart to cut the corner off so I can move the seat over a couple inches.  Right now it is about 3" offset to the door and it'll work but is not ideal so I'm going to do what I can to fix the issue.

So the truck is up and running once again.  Finishing the cage this weekend and rebuilding the rear shock mount tonight.  The dana 300 is up for grabs too.  I don't need it anymore...

And why I don't need the 300...  Just picked this up for $800.  Better him than me dealing with a bankruptcy and foreclosure. :talkingn:

I read up on the AA site for the Atlas, besides being incredibly strong... the gearing reduction of an Atlas II 2-speed is higher then a 4.7 MC case.. correct? or am I missing something.

My case is a 4.3:1 case.  2:1, 3:1 and 5:1 are available as well.  I'll have WAY more gearing than I'll ever need running an auto with duals but I'll have all the options I'll ever need.

The green is still there if you look hard enough for it... We missed some of the green on the old shock mount so there is a touch showing through on the redo of it I did this evening.

Found some motivation and a neighbors buddy was here to lend a hand to wrestle that big bastid atlas into position.  It fit like a damned glove.  Between the factory clockable atlas and the DD machine box 4 rocks being super clockable it is in and exactly like it needed to be.  It was a bastid to get it right but it was worth it.

Super ghetto rear driveline and shifters but damnit it's a 4x4 and it all works. :gap:

So they are searching for the stock atlas shifter so I can junk my quicky crap I stabbed together in the name of playing with my t case.  And I rebuilt the rear driveline.  I had fawked it up pretty good and make it crooked as a congressman.

The new one all together is 27 lbs of bad ass hillbilliness if I ever saw it. :talkingn:

Starts with a standard 1310 slip and spline at the t case. The male spline has the remnants of the rodeo front driveline welded over it. Believe it or don't but that rodeo driveline is 1 5/8" DOM with a 3/16" wall thickness.  :o

The main tube is 2x .180" DOM down to a piece of 1 5/8x .134" HREW. The 14 bolt has a 1350 yoke on it so I cut up a dana 50 TTB inner shaft that just so happens to be 1350 and have a .135" OD so it was a tap in fit for the rear of the driveline. It's all straight as fat as I can tell, it all had to be massaged into place and I rolled it repeatedly while setting it up and welding to make sure it was still straight. It' shouldn't break that's for sure.

Oh yea and I'm finally getting around to installing my 1/4" plate rear diff cover. :gap:

EDIT:  Oh yea and I finally got off my ass and wired in the RAdesigns.com shift controller.  Fawking bitchin!  Thanks Rory!

So I had a busy weekend that included working on the yota again for awhile.  Started the exish cage and got a good start on the bumper/light guard.

This will not be your standard dumb looking jungle gym exo like everyone else runs.  The front fenderbars will be inside the sheetmetal, the rear tire openings will be have rolled tubing around them and a few added bars to keep the major shape of the bed.  Also there will be no yota "rainbow" over the wipers, that'll be inside the cab and the dash will be built off of it.

After I took this pic I added a couple tubes down to the frame, the upper bars will be part of the fender bars that tie back into the bars in front of the doors.

You want an update?

Sold the tires & wheels.  Kept the beadlocks for usage on a future project.

Then I parted the whole rig out and scrapped the remains.

Life happens, We had moved back to Prosser and then I took a job on the other side of the tri cities farther away from where we used to live.  So I had to sell off the parts to pay for gas and moving expenses.

Craptastic end to a fun truck but in the end I don't really miss it.  The bigger, badder, better stupidity got the best of me honestly.  I never wheeled it 1/10th as much as I did once putting it on 42's.  I picked up a 4 door 94 4runner with a 22re and 5 speed for my wife and I'm going to build it slightly one of these days.  Leave the IFS, slap some chevy springs on the back so I can get my overbuilt r/c crawlers to the good spots easier. :D

I did have the forethought to keep some key items.  I still have all the tubework and the exo thing I built for the first gen cab is going into my 90 2x standard cab auto cross truck.  I have already put the stainless braided brake lines and big V6 booster onto it.  So I am still building truck but 2 out of 3 that are on the road are lowered 2 wheel drives.  :gap:
