What is the price difference between an adapter and a set of 4.70 gears?  In the end, your gearing options are about the same.

:headscratch:
1989 4Runner: Dual Ultimate (Inchworm front & Marlin 4.70 rear), Marlin Twin Stick, 1200-lb clutch, 4.88 R&P, Aussie Front, Detroit rear, 30-spline Longs, Long hub gears, ARP hub and knuckle studs & 35x12.50 Cooper STT PRO tires.  Marlin rear bumper & sliders.  FROR front bumper.  SAS with Alcan springs & Rancho 9000XL shocks.  Budbuilt Bolt-on traction bar.  Custom Interior Cage by Those Guys Rod and Customs.

Moab Tested & Rubicon Approved

adaptor is 350, gears are 400,    and i had a spare tcase layin around so i thought what the heck,   i'll try it,  plus i want to be unique, and later on down the road im gonna get a set of gears for one of my t-cases

Let's see 2.28 x 2.28 x 4.70 = 24.43 assuming 4.10 r&p and 3.93 1st = 393.64 crawl (if my math didn't fail me).

Where are you planning to go?

Is it just me, or is the axle truss crooked?
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

boggerunner

i almost got my triples done when i remembered that my case i built 2 yrs ago needed some work like the keystock for the shifter and cut the shift fork down, should finish them up tomorrow

Sluice Box Hero

would have been less work and $$ to just put in a 4.7 gear set, i gave get a set installed now in 3hours, how long does it take to put in another adapter?

boggerunner

the adaptor is cheaper, and my drivelines are gonna be the same length so i will only have to carry one spare

boggerunner

started installing my triples tonight and one of the input shafts was different so i had to grind some excess splines off it and it fit perfectly.
Yes i know i need to clean them, but that will come later when i can get the truck to a pressure washer, here are some pics of my triples and the beginning of my flatbelly

boggerunner
