yotas 4 life homie!

boggerunner

so tonight i got most of the tranny crossmember done, used some 90 4runner bottom links and welded them to the crossmember, and used some channel on the frame sides.  Just my luck i ran out of wire when i was half way done welding. so tomorrow im goin to pick up some more wire, and finish welding so i can get back to the front axle

boggerunner

and the finished product where the triples will rest for good

THe interior on the 2wd is sweet, how long did it take?  Your 1st gen looks like it is coming along pretty well!

boggerunner

i did all the interior in a couple of hrs, just primered everything, then painted it with some cheap paint, and i hope to have my 79 done in the next month or so

boggerunner

no pics tonight, ive been cleaning up the knuckles and spindels, man these things are greasy, im gonna take them to work tomorrow and use the parts cleaner, then i can assemble the front axle and crossover steering, and i will get to test out my new lincold 140c welder tomorrow night too  :flamer:

boggerunner

anyone interested in a 79 or 85 front axle housing?
my garage is gettin too cluttered

toytank

boggerunner

got the new welder setup, but no time to play with it, gotta go out drinkin or sumthing, and i gotta work tomorrow

boggerunner

got to finally use my new welder today to fix the muffler on the 4runner, the inlet tube fell out of the dam thing(just my luck)  cleaned up my knuckles, and worked on running ifs calipers and brakes, and i made a huge breakthrough, i have a set of aluminum 3/4" wheel spacers that i drilled out to put between the hub ass and brake disc, and the brakes fit perfectly. dam i got lucky on that one. sounds like the $200 kit from sky isnt worth it if u arent lazy and know how to operate a drill press. here are some pics of my progress

Birfailed

Hell yeah, that was a damn good idea.  Can ya amke me a set while it's still fresh in your mind

i need some ideas for coil spring mounts  dont want to use the round tube with a plate it already sit a little high?
old and sqeaky but she goes

Birfailed

If I was in your situation I'd find some coil spring buckets, cut out the bottom of em so they straddle your axle tube nice and snug, weld up some guessets and then move on to the top bucket.  Or you could heat the springs up with a torch to get them to drop. With your steering behind the axle you could maybe mount buckets to the front of the housing, nice and low too...But I bet you'd end up knocking a spring out hitting rocks.
