I like the big suburban in the background. Oh is the 4wd toy on hold or what? When I look at the pic of the low rider I see a mobile RTI ramp.

boggerunner

so i got both of my custom headers done tonight, han they were a pain in the arse, but here are some pics befor i header wrap them

boggerunner

and the other side

boggerunner

i got lucky, the tires clear by 3/4 " so now the rest of this build is gonna be easy, should have her runnin this weekend, just need to mount fuel tank, radiator, tranny cooler, new plugs, wires, wire up starter and dist. and alt. and build 4" cowl induction hood so it will close

toytank

so is it just me or does the alternater belt on the mobile rti ramp not line up with the harmonic balancer.  i think you should stick to wheelin rigs.
old and sqeaky but she goes

boggerunner

none of the bolts on the alt. are tight, so its just hangin there, it actually lines up pretty good considering i had to space the alt. 1 1/2"s foward

boggerunner

so i did some calculating, and im over my $1000 budget, here is what i have in this truck
truck $150
tranny $150
motor  free
intake/headers $100
tires and rims $450
b&m shifter $120
b&m tranny cooler $50
grant gt steering wheel with adaptor $70
4wd fenders $50
4wd bed  free
grill/bumper $50
cap rotor plugs plug wires $60
misc parts $40
so just under $1300

thats a bit expensive for a RTI ramp but not to bad for a drag truck! What times are you estimating, and how many passes do you think it will make before that free motor goes boom? A rebuild will quickly make your budget look weak, and make you want to sell one of the 4wd rigs to fund a quicker motor. My experiences whith raceing have not been good ones, so sorry if I sound really negative.

i hope it holds together, it has a comp cams top end, camshaft, dual valve springs, new valves, and roller tip rocker arms, but chevy motors are cheap to rebuild, so im not too worried about it, now i just need an 80 shot of nos!

I like it. It's a little low, but onwards Sir....

I do not have a Supra. I just have a Supra motor in my truck.

I believe the 5MGEs came in the pre 1986.5 and later in the 1986.5-1992, the 7MGE was available. However, I believe I have a 6MGE, which is the Japanese motor from which I was told. It has the higher compression pistons and the beefier rods. Also, there is no inhibiting emission controls on mine, only what it needs to operate.

We will see if this thing is any different than the common 7MGE. I don't know how to tell just looking at it!

It happens sometimes. It is always the little things that keep the projects on hold!

Oregon Crawler

Ya, few more thousands of dollars you can get a 2Jz anyways but some parts are interchangable, so far the only thing I can find is the intake assemably ,(and I've heard you can swap heads but im thinkin not) and the info I got for the intake is like a 20 horse difference. Not sure if any truth to that. but if someone can get 250 horse out of it with out going turbo or spending 3 grand That'll be sweet.

boggerunner

a few grand for a 2jz, i can get one alot cheaper, im thinkin of puttin the 2jze into my supra and puttin the 7mge into my rock crawler.  Any one know where i can find a 4 cyl diesel motor for my buddies truck, he is replacin the 22r and wants a diesel for it, and the 22r is for sale at the moment
