that mc will make all the difference. I have it on mine, and the last one ton rig too and my brakes work perfectly.

Where is the skateboard going?   :ha_ha:

On the roof so if I flop it on its lid I can skate it out of the way

On a more serious note, I'm pretty pissed right now. I've got my truck over at a local shop and I called the guy yesterday. Asked SPECIFICALY if I could come pick it up today after work around 5 pm and he said "yea i've got a rollcage to build so i'll be here"   I asked again "are you sure you are going to be there because i'm going to call at 5 ?"  He said "yes" again so... long story short I call at 5:00 pm on the dot and he didn't answer.. called like 5 fug'n times and nothing.. SOOOOOO I will have to wait until Monday to pick it up. What this really boils down to is me losing another day to get my truck ready for MCR..

ah I just needed them to notch a few pieces of tubing for me so I could mount those crossbraces. I didn't have a vice, the $100 POS I bought broke in two days. I started to cut them with an angle grinder on the floor... got frustrated (for lack of a better word)  and figured they could do it in about 10 mintues with the notcher and make it look clean.

Its been there all week but no big deal because I really didn't have time to go get it after work but I was expecting it today and went out of my way to ensure that I was off at 5 pm to pick it up    :shake:

PROGRESS:

Typical day full of the usual bs but I did manage to get some work done. The hydro cooler and fan are mounted. I'm going to try and get the MC on tomorrow after work and plumb the lines/wiring for the fan. I've got a toggle switch in the cab that was used for rock lights but i've since installed the rock lights on my factory toyota light switch on the steering column. So the toggle switch has nothing hooked to it, figured i'd use that to power my fan. Decided to make it a bolt up incase I decided to do something different later on, used existing mounting points with some flat bar..

:haha:   EVERY single "thing" I have purchased from Harbor freight has ended up in the garbage within a week... seriously.

Do they make a legit chop saw or will I be waisting $40 I could have spent on something that will actually last?

Btw the rear mounts are done...  grinder + VISE = yay!

I've been running mine for 2 and a half years now real hard and it hasnt ever flinched.  I think I paid around 40 for it and it even came with some extra brushes for the motor but im still running the originals

Shamb

So i'm still trying to get these brakes working correctly.. having problems with flaring these brakelines.. long story short.

I got my fan wired to the toggle switch and my lines ran to the cooler.

Have the front brakes hooked up and no leaks thus far  :crossed:

Still trying to get a good double flare on the rear brake line that goes into the MC... just keeps splitting.. i've gone through 3 flareing tools today.

:D

I'll post pics........... eventually.

Double flares don't split, that is why you use a double flare.

What are you having a problem with? The first step is to  make a <> bubble then push it in to make the flare.

this is stock line off an 82' toyota pickup.

but yea.. i dont know what the deal is, yesterday I'm bragging to DTB about how easy this flaring tool works and it was making perfect flares... today I start with the front line because the Hose Shop tells me they can't flare it with their $1000 machine!  So I think to myself "funny.. my $23 flare kit will do the job no problem"

I get to the house and notice that everytime I tighten down the clamp bar it doesn't hold the line and as I flare the bubble it slides the line down... basically doing nothing!   So after about 4-5 tries I get pissed off and tighten it to the point were it snaps the bolt that holds it on.. so i've got bolts laying around.. I try one of those.. well... it still doesn't hold because the "ridges" in the hole for the 3/16" line are almost completely gone.. so I go get another one... first try it does the exact same thing... doesn't hold the brake line... so I go BACK and get a Lisle? brand double flare kit... it works great at holding the line, making the <> bubble but once I flare it out the outer rim splits every single time.  I've done some reading on PBB and i'm going to try a few things before I give up on it and get ANOTHER double flare kit. Just being a complete PITA... story of my life I guess.....

And yes I am cutting the brakeline completely flush and de-buring it!    I probably took a good 4-6" off my brakeline today trying to flare this thing.

I think I jinxed myself  :ack:

If I can remember tomorrow i'll bring the camera so I can show pictures of exactly what i'm doing.

Jason, I got a this cooler from summit  http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2DG4962A&N=700+1003+115&autoview=sku

and picked up a fan from an Isuzu Trooper from the junk yard, hooked to a toggle switch.

Once I get the brakes working and my tow rig back (another story in itself)   i'll be able to pull it off the trailer and see how well it works.

Sounds like your original lines are hard lines. That would make them difficult to flare.

Is there a junction block close by you could replace that section of line with a new one and go from there?

One side metric and the other with the correct nut.

I bought a roll of 3/16 line, but it was too hard to do anything with. I wound up with the longest of the straight pieces and coulped them together. Much easier to work with.

yea there's a T splice at the frame rail right next to the passenger side tire. I'm probably going to just replace that line if I can't get these to flare.

Latest update, I got the Master Cylinder all mounted up and ended up having to change out the 10mm fittings so that they weren't recessed back because I could only get about 2 threads on.

After f'n with these P O S double flare kits I decided to just replace the entire line. Worked great.. took all of about 20 minutes to replace and bend. I was really suprised at how easy brakeline is to bend into nice curves.

Anyways.. on to the next dilegma I guess, I have to compress the pedal a good 4-5 times before it starts getting hard. Once I let off it immediatly goes back to soft mush pedal. So i'm gonna be researching the inline valves that hold consistant pressure in the line and probably installing them.

ANY info is appriciated of course.

Tomorrow i'll be hooking up the lines from the pump into the cooler and out of the cooler to the res. I've already got everything mounted and plumbed. Just didn't have any hydro fluid so I decided to hold off on that. SHOULD............ only take 30 minutes to have everything working and functional ( I can only hope )

Updated pics................ eventually

Sticking calipers causing the pistons to pull back away from the rotors or air in the system.

Did yoy bench bleed the master? Maybe even a bad master.

Make sure the rod going to the peddel is not to tight or it will not allow fluid to advance into the master after it returns to the rest position.
