Is the Exo cag finished? Or are you gonna put some tubes going from the front bumper to the cage?
The plan is to run a cross bar under the windshield, but I would like to try to run it through the sheetmetal and under the hood if possible so it doesn't interfere with the wipers, etc. I also need to tie the exo into the front bumper and to the top of the front shock towers or frame (again, maybe through the sheetmetal). :dunno: The goal was to add the exo, but keep it as light as possible. ;)

Maybe like this (blue lines are the 1.5" tubes with the yellow spots as the points where the tubling goes through the sheetmetal). I suck at MS paint!  :disturbed:

It will look alot better when it is done. That design looks good. I would add some tubes that run vertically from the top fender tube to the bottom one.

looks sweet, Ive seen guys do bends in the tube across the bottom of the windshield so the wipers still work,
Ill try to get some pics for ya.

Going through the sheet metal would be sweet, but the Toyota firewalls are like 6 layers in some spots,
plus that rainfall dumper thing, and brake booster might be a problem...

This is an AWESOME build, just what I need to do to my 'Runner, and still have a backseat for the kiddies!

Thanks for the inspiration!

I have seen Exos with the bars running across the cowl to clear the wipers and they sometimes look a little funky. :twocents: Brent's Exo has a cowl bar with clamps on it so that it doesn't interfere with the wipers while driving, but he can slide it back a little bit to open the hood fully. That would work, but I am opening the hood so much cooking burritos, moving the bar would get old. :disturbed:

If I go through the fender into the engine compartment, there shouldn't be too much sheetmetal to deal with (no firewall cutting). The brake booster looks low enough for an 1.5" tube to fit. :crossed:

Thanks! :) I'll tell you, you get lots of extra brownie points when you have the big backseat for the kids (and they are blast to have around on the trail).
