So I started another project and seeing how I sell everything anyway, I figured I can just have an ongoing ad!

SOLD! First Build - Rotten-Lime
SOLD! Second Build - Willy Wonka
SOLD! Third Build - No Name

So to start the project, I rebuilt an R151 transmission as well as a RF1A transfer case doubler with 4.7's in the rear.

R151 has upgraded thrust washer, bearing retainer and marlin shift forks.
RF1A has Marlin chromoly everything with 4.7's in the rear.

The T-case build with lots of pics is here: T-Case Doubler Build

I also made a nifty seal driver for the R-series front seal. If I had a bigger chunk of aluminum I would have made it index off the bearing retaining lip to set the depth. Oh well, it still worked like a champ! Seal Driver

Not a lot of pics to the R151 transmission. Overall it turned out well, other then some of the gears having a little surface rust on them. I don't think it will hurt anything. I cleaned them up, no pitting, just some discoloration.

So overall the goal is to build a bunch of parts and then buy a rig and thrash on it. Thinking 60 front, 14 bolt rear, first gen? turbo propane? Sounds like a headline I could get a lot of interest with on craigslist when i'm ready to dump it.

If you see it, its for sale.

So my Alaska thing fell through. He called, said there was some issues with the stuff and that ended that. Not to be slowed down, I went junkyarding and scored a 14bolt for $175. This is my first 14bolt and they are beef! This came out a 77 Chevy 1 Ton. I got a line on a 60. Time will tell.

If you see it, its for sale.

Having now had my hands on both. There is no comparing the two. The 14bolt is just crazy beefy.

So I got the 14bolt pulled apart, blasted and painted today. It will need some more work, but now its clean and easier to work with.

It was all the old Harbor Freight pumpkin blaster had in her. It sucks blasting stuff. It took over 300lbs of sand....

All nice and clean. I took the old 800lb breaks and carrier to the dump.

If you see it, its for sale.

What kind of person do you take me for? Of course I'm going to shave it. That way I can get top dollar for it when I sell it.

SOOOOOO. I think I sold the Trans and T-case! Sweet.

Also I got a package! GM Dana 60!

I got it home and started pulling it apart. This stuff is so much heavier and beef then Toyota stuff. The housing is in good shape. Just dirty as.

35 spline inners - Will upgrade to 35 spline outers.

The gear set in this thing was crispy.

Housing is in good shape!

I looked it up in the Dana 60 Bible.

Lots to clean and prep. A lot of this wont be used. Really just the housing and spindles.
If you see it, its for sale.

zippo

Ah. Shop cleaned. Much better

Got the Ruff Stuff disk brake kit, test fit.

The king pin uses a 7/8 hex. I bought a 7/8 hex as well as a 3/4 drive 7/8's socket, cut a chunk of hex off. This will allow me to remove and install new king pins. 550ft lbs!

If you see it, its for sale.

So I got some more done today. This is a popular mod on a lot of forums. Na, welded some scrap on the king pins and beat them off. I like that the grease in the pin burns when you weld it.

I cut off all the unneeded brackets. The Driver side perch was badly cracked so it also had to go.

Got the pinion guard on the 14bolt.

If you see it, its for sale.

:)bestgen4runner

OMG I love that pinion guard. Looks bad A
One more reason to want a 14bolt.

Toyota for now.
What is My best choice for a rear 14 bolt again? Is it the C&C ? I want it to be as close to what I have now as possible.
