So I got some more done today. This is a popular mod on a lot of forums. Na, welded some scrap on the king pins and beat them off. I like that the grease in the pin burns when you weld it.

I'm glad that worked. Did you have to use your torque multiplier?

Ruff Stuff sells the spindle and weld on brake kit. Would be super easy to shorten the width. Yukon makes cut to length shafts.

Yeah they are heavy. No so bad once you take the drum brakes off. But yeah. Heavy SOB.

I got some work done on the rear 14bolt.

Rear Cover. Is also a shave kit.

You have like an 1-3/4 off.

I then made a axle cart that holds the axle at a nice working height.

Then cut a huge chunk off. A mill would have been nice.

To weld it, heat the axle to 400. Weld it, then ping the weld with a chipping hammer. That's why the weld looks weird. I ran multiple passes. Pinged it, then wrapped it and let it cool down slowly. It took over 2 hours to cool down. This is my first time welding cast. Wasn't as bad as many people make it out to be.

If you see it, its for sale.

I got the 14bolt breather drilled out and tapped 1/4 npt.

Got the 14bolt truss welded on. Its 3/16 with a pinion tie in.

It tooke me 3 hours on and off to weld everything

The top of the truss is 90 degrees from the rear cover flange.

If you see it, its for sale.

Did you see the story where the MLB player hit a home run in a make up game that officially happened several weeks before he was called up to the big leagues?  Somehow it still didn't count as his 1st home run.

Was the case empty (no gears or oil) before you drilled and tapped?

I'm sure it was. If you notice he has no gears in it yet and drilled it before he started on the truss.

That thing is going to be one stout axle for sure. That truss is very nice.

Dana 60 gear install. Yukon 5.13 and Yukon Zip Locker. This stuff is much more of a pain in the ass to work on as everything is just heavy...

Great looking build.  Cant wait to see this beast done.  Itll be a monster.  What engine are you driving those huge axles with?
