I tried that to begin with.  The CV side won't pull the angle from the tcase down.  I turned the axle so that angle is almost zero.  I guess a front '84-'85 driveshaft will do the trick.... anyone have one layin around?

You can take the IFS shaft apart and clearence it to get as much or slightly more then the strait axle ones,  search pirate if you can there is a good write up somewhere
