No there isn't anything more to it than drilling, tapping, and adding the new fittings. If the problem is the box it is because somehow we didn't get all the metal chips out from drilling and tapping.
Then if you bypass the hydro assist and the issue persists then you would only need to swap out the box, right? It seems that you're at least only looking at one replacement part to be functional again. Sucks though...
