I created a cheap heat shield setup for the pipe in front of my cat with 'u' muffler clamps and home exhaust flue sheet metal.

Put muffler clamps on pipe, bracket down.

With extra nuts,  attach sheet metal to muffler clamp.

Wrap sheet metal over pipe, attach other side of sheet metal to other side of muffler clamp.

The Ubolt part of muffler clamp gives you the spacing,  the bracket the attachment.

I ran my exhaust down the passenger side and crossed over behind the tcase for this reason. Don't see any drive shaft interference or anything. Now with folks running cats they might have to move that little feller back some.

I had mine the same...until duals. Not really an option after that. Otherwise it is far too close to fuel tank and also interferes with rear shaft.

Bumper is fixed. Really happy with how it turned out. Also redid the front bumps to gain more up-travel as well. Getting close to ready  :willynilly:

I gotta ask, can you even see anything out the back with that big ole spare in the way?!

looks good though with a full spare

Yeah I see out through the side with the jerry can. The 37 has definitely reduced it though.

Good except passenger rear corner. Leaking like SOB back there.

Under the top or around the glass?  Is the spare assisting the drivers side by blocking the wind or is something different?

It appears that the fabric just needs to stretch a little more and it will reduce the leak quite a bit. The top is very tight still with it being so new.

Rockcrawlintoy

on the next warm day let it sit outside and then fix it. It will warm up and make it easier.

Good call. Now for that warm day....

Do you have a way to heat up your garage?
Time to go wheelin!

Rockcrawlintoy

It doesn't really need to be that warm out just the direct sunlight on it will warm up the top.

I can't say that mine has stretched that much.  I think if you get it wet on the outside you might be able to pull it tighter.

When i used to turn my 4runner while stopped i could hear some popping noises.  Further investigation showed it was the leaf springs trying to fan out and making the noise.
Yup, yup. Pretty much what I narrowed it down to as well.  I hose the springs down with wd-40 and no more poppy pop sounds.  😉

Did some more work on the Hydro today, well the pump at least. I did the TC pump mods to increase flow and pressure. Drilled out the flow port/restrictor plate to 5/32 and elongated the spring to 2 and 1/4 inches. Also took out my fitting coming out of the side of the box and cut about 2 threads off the end so that I could get it in tight without it being so deep into the box. Taking it to the rocks tomorrow to finally test all this crap out.  :driving:

SqWADoosh

Well I took the truck out to Reiter today. My power steering/hydro is screwed up. The turning right problem persists, as well as the power steering was overheating. I'm at a loss at this point. I know it is either the box or the ram. I guess I flip a coin and hope I replace the correct thing as I don't have enough money to replace both (really don't have money to replace either) and I've tested them both to the best of my ability and neither one shows any signs of not working correctly. I don't know, I'm getting very discouraged by this and wishing I hadn't even gone this route.  :sad2:

Bummer!  I was hopeful to hear a bouncingly positive report...

If moab was tomorrow I would not be going. So until I get this fixed I am a no go.

I would post over on pirate and see if anyone has any other thoughts. So you just don't throw money at new parts that you don't need.

I don't know anything about the steering box mods but if it worked fine before I should be ok if you plug the ports I would think. Is there more to the steering box mods than the two extra ports.

No there isn't anything more to it than drilling, tapping, and adding the new fittings. If the problem is the box it is because somehow we didn't get all the metal chips out from drilling and tapping.

Then if you bypass the hydro assist and the issue persists then you would only need to swap out the box, right?  It seems that you're at least only looking at one replacement part to be functional again. Sucks though...

Yeah just swap out the box to the tune of $350  :tantrum:
