1982 SR5 All Stock
« on: Dec 15, 2011, 06:11:31 PM »
Picked up an White 1982 Toyota sr5 4x4 a few weeks ago . All stock . 144,000 Miles only missing one mudflap.  Plan is to clean it up, keep it close to stock . Need wheels and door panels thanks to a poor speaker install. Was on non op for over 10 years.

Stripes were peeling off So I removed them. What a pain that was. Adjusted the float now runs good, time for smog check when I find time.

Good looking truck. Glad you took the bug deflector off too. I like it without the stripes IMO

Clean!  I love the stripes.  Looks pretty good with out too.  How did you get them off?  i gave up on my old truck and painted over them.

I used a heat gun and peeled the stripes. then used acetone to remove the sticky glue left . By far wasnt easy  but they were peeling and the paint needed buffing . But it is all original paint .I just need to repaint the rear flares and touch up here and there.

Nice virgin find there Lynn!!  I need to save up and find some non-op rigs down there.  I know that I probably could get some sweet deals in Cali, since I don't have to smog up here.

Thanks Cheesemaker. These things seem to fall into my lap. I was Given an 4x 88 trooper this year bought a clean 88 samurai for 700 neighbor asked if I wanted to trade my 93 2x toyota PU 203k miles for his 70 no rust Bronco . Bought an 88 toy excab 4x for a grand kept the bed fenders interior and ebuilt trans for my 85 and parted out the rest for 1050. Then I found this for a 1000.  I think I have an addiction.  By the way  how did the power steering work?

Still sitting in the tote it came in.  Money got real tight, and I haven't been able to do anything on the other truck yet.  Hopefully, when taxes come in, I can spare enough to get a motor and trans for it.  What I need to do, is find some Cali rig that won't smog for real cheap, and mule it up here.  Since we don't smog here.

That truck looks great! I wish you had left the stripes on though. I love the cool old skool stripes and white wheels that came stock on them. How's the interior? Got any pictures of the inside?

Its blue.  The truck is a sr5. The P/O installed that roller on the steering I think because of no power steering. Still need to clean up the interior.

Dang, pretty clean interior.  I have an 81 2wd that is pretty clean like that.  Pretty rare coloring.  Sucks on the door panels though.

So I made two perfect door panels  Just to find out I made two lefts. So I cut one more and got the right one done. Then I thought i would make another set . Camo Style . Now working on the running issues . I replaced the float assembly in the carb . still have a lope in the throttle while holding a constant throtle or idle . Revs fine when accellerating . Does any one know someone who works on these carbs ?
