Not as good looking as yours but they will work.  :gap: My dad wants me to make some for his 82. I think I might paint them flat black.

Crazy, those came out great . What kind of alum is that?  And how are they held up, double side tape or velcro?
Started the beast this morn and my carb is crapping out again so I am going to rebuild it and see if that helps .

Thanks Rockdiver, I got the aluminum off some old roof mounted water heaters that no longer worked. I got two 6x5 feet sheets. Its very thin around 2mm thick nice and light.  The door handle is holding them on right now. I am going to drill some small holes at the corners and get some sheet metal screws.  On the carb if you can when you tear it apart put the body into some sort of cleaner and let it sit. Then blow it out with compressed air. Should work great.

I made these at work last summer. Not sure what look your going for, but I'm a big fan of the first gen Toyota logo, so I put that center of the door and installed some door speakers with a slight kickout to face more towards the riders.

I wanted to see who black looked against the tan, but I think I'm going to go back to tan to match the rest of the truck.

I surfed the forums last night for three + hours learning about carbs. I learned a lot.
I started by pulling the line on the AAP , sure enough it had gas in it . Plugged it off and the Truck ran like new! I was going to rebuild the entire carb but now I think I will just replace the AAP Diaphram and get it smogged.
Here are a few links to help the next guy. Lots of good info and more links and pictures in them. Below is the text from the blue bass link telling about the AAP

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=249626
http://www.bluebassdesign.com/boonin/carb_faq/

Auxiliary Accelerator Pump Diaphragm (AAP)
The auxiliary accelerator pump diaphragm (AAP) is located at the front base of the driver's side of the carb. It has three screws and one vacuum line.

To check if it is bad, simply pull off the vacuum line and look and smell for fuel. If there is gas in the line, the diaphragm is punctured or cracked and should be replaced. I have heard of people simply plugging the vacuum port and being fine, although your idle/take off may stumble a little when cold.

All the AAP does is squirt a little extra fuel into the mixture when the engine is cold. It has no effect on the engine when warm - even when not working properly. The AAP is vacuum operated - when vacuum is applied the diaphragm opens which then adds a little extra fuel. The vacuum is applied by the BVSV which is screwed into a water jacket on the head. This senses the temperature of the coolant and applies or does not apply vacuum to the AAP.

A new diaphragm comes with any rebuild kit or can be purchased from the dealer and maybe from some aftermarket parts stores.

Back at it again .  went for smog ran great until they pulled it in then it started crapping out again .  So I trailered it home . Sent the carb of to Carb-X ($ 11.00 shiped to them ) in El Monte ca. They had a special . Send in your carb and they will rebuild for $150+shipping mine was $15) shipped back in under a week .
Decided to replace the vacuum lines while waiting for the carb. 40 feet of vacuum line later. Installed the carb runs great . They run it on a engine and preset everything  .
Found a return line on the fuel pump kinked . still have to replace all the other hoses, fuel , heater& radiator .

Yes the sticker under the hood is the factory routing for the vacuum lines. I also have an 81 Factory service manual. And the carb works great . I was told that there is a carb-x in fresno after I sent mine down south.

Its fiber hard board, like peg board without the holes . Bought it at Home depot or Lowes. about $12.00 for a 4x8 sheet I made 3 sets of door panels.

Installed new clutch  bought a flywheel from marlin  and shifter trans boot and hd shift lever ball seat .  Nice tight shiter now . Reinstalled transfer case shifter in the right direction . Now it does not interfer with 4 gear . Ordered a fuel sending Unit from Michaels Toyota Fresno . PN# 83320-39176 for #76.00
and the speedo gear on the transfer case PN# 33403-69065 for $30.00 . Bought a new speedo cable firstbut  old one was fine. if anyone needs a good used stock speedo cable 10$ and didnt need the flywheel either so new marlin flywheel 75$ paid 100$

Next step pulling fuel tank and checking gear oil in diffs and greasing bearings and replacing all seals.

Does anyone have a source for the stock shift boots sr5 leather ?

Nice truck.
What does Non op mean?
I live in Tx so there's not all the crazy emission standards that y'all have over there.

Non op is when you suspend the registration while the truck is in non operational status (not Driven on roads)  It has to be put in nop op status while it is currently registered . If not the fees pile up for all the years that you dont pay them plus penalties. got to look out for that on california vehicles . I bought a old bronco once it had over 900$ in back fees to bring it current.

Pulled the fuel tank today to change sending unit . The tank had a drain so i used it , I was almost out of gas. pulled sending unit and hooked it up out of tank and cycled it a few times and it worked great, Note to self pull part and try it before ordering new one . Reinstalled tank with original sending unit . I was amazed how clean tank was inside and out .(no rust or water) the fuel lines were still in great shape .

Speedo now working with a new gear but odometer is stuck at 140,699.

Speedo worked for about 200 miles  got 20 miles per gallon  . then the speedo gear stripped again . Has any one had problems with stripping the plastic gear. or know how many different gears there are ? I bought the gear from toyota with the vin # for reference.

Thats the plan.   Going to pull the rear drive flang and end of the case off and check the gear on the shaft.
