mayberry rock runner
« on: Jul 04, 2014, 02:00:58 PM »
making the best out of a botched trade deal. Guy decided to lie to my face about gears and a locker  and some of the work is sub par build in all its an OK ride and will be great  when I'm done.
I'm in need of a 4.88 third if anyone in norl Cal has one

Was that the one on Craig's list in grass valley? I recently saw one that looked like that on there. Post up some more stats and your plans, are those 39.5's?

I got it from a guy in megaila but it is still registered to a guy in grass valley so probably same one  dude told me it had 5.29 rear and 5.38 front with a spool (super hard to turn on pavement) makes since right? As soon as I got it home I checked it out and it's 4.10 re at and 3.50 front open open. he gave me the  "o well the previous owner told me bull crap" and won't man up and make it right. So now I'm going 4.88s front and rear openfront some sort of locker in the rear pprobably mini spool ir just Lincoln lock but depends what i can come up with. I'm going to run 12-14" shocks and that's all I really need to do.
And ya 39" rockers I ran on my Last rig  kinda big on here but I have a set of taller springs I could throw under it

It has 3 link rear  and the Ford cantilever front coils in all 4 corners i think they are tj stock springs size
I will probably in the future move the tank forward and do the 4 link right and at that time ill do a much better skid plate and might push flat belly but i dont want to bite off too much at a time like i habe in the past and dont finish and end up selling my rig

That is pretty shady. Is that a Dana 44 front full width on waggy?

Good luck finishing it up. I have some plans to build a 3rd gen too.

It's a 44 out of a bronco or f150 has the cantilever front end (the 2 big links)

To the best of my knowledge, no one makes a "mini spool" for a Toyota 8". Myself I would not run an E-locker for my type of wheeling, they break side gears, but that is IMO!!

I love the mtrs. I liked the rockers but they where too much. I didn't want to go any higher and thos things rubbed every turn. They where 16.5" wide, just too much for what I was wanting. The mtrs I couldn't be happier unless they lowered prices

Yup 37s it's exactly the size I want. I have wheeled 42s it makes everything too easy and 35s make alot of stiff impossable. 37s it's just hard enough and still possable

I think 37s are perfect with a 3.4. Only time you need bigger is in the snow. 35s are fun where I live cause there arnt any serious legal trails. Nothing 35s can't do.
