Nice, wasn't sure if you were going to go tons with the 14 bolt or full width. Nice to see that truck keep living on.

what tire? 14bolt is massive and 44/10 bolt is not, so a 42 is small for a 14bolt and huge for a d44.

have you looked into the rcv? its a "birfield" for the dana 44. warranty up to a 40" tire. They are bling, but money. after i get tired of changing stock joints and shafts in mine, that's what I'm swappin to. I think chromoly/ujionts are kinda pointless. Not a great deal stronger and still running a joint. not much material there.

Skip the 44 and save for a 60. but the time you build a 44 with cromo shafts and ctm joints, youll have as much money in the axle as you would buying a D60. and you still wont be as strong as a stock D60. if you want to run 38+ i say 60 is a must. d44 are a waste of time and money.

i hear this all the time and find it false. by the time you build a d44 you can not have a built d60, you will have a stock dana 60. a big floppin' axle with horrible ground clearence. if you have a 36-38 on a d44, the ground clearence is the same as a 42-44 on a d60. stock to stock, however, you put some money into the d44 you can run the same 42 as your buddy with a d60 and 42s and have more clearence, less unsprung weight, etc. the after market world for a dana 44 has come up a lot. Rebuildable ball joints, rcv, dana 50 ring and pinion upgrade etc. same goes for a toy axle. I have seen people say toy axles are only good for a 35, I have seen a few toy axles run 42s with no breakage. No skimming the top of the snow for him.

do what you want its your truck, I like my d44 and 38.5...

im confident in the d 44 for right now partsare way cheaper and way easire to find then a d 60. if i have problems with the 44 too muck i will skip to rockwells or portals and skip the entire dana line up i still have a semi floater 14 rear i might build a hybred front and run even bigger like 49s or 52 but i dont know how savage i want to get half of the fun for me is not being able to complete part of a trail and having to figure out how to make it work  not just pileing over the top of everything
