im assuming this is an open diff? never seen the inside of one before

i also couldnt get the rotor off the pass. side hub, it is different from the drivers hub. The drivers has 8 bolts holding the rotor in:

and the pass. had two bolts, and the rest were studs. do i have to take these studs out or..?

yup, time for ifs hubs

Yeh, lots of people on pirate, and on her, believe the longer top truss actually makes them bend easier, since 9 out of 10 times they bend at the knuckle balls. Either way I swear everytime ive worked on any axle thats been welded on by a newb or someone, it is so damn hard to get the long side axle in, so make sure u weld for short bursts, doesnt need much to hold it on there and do its job. It hasnt been proevn that its the trusses, cud just be the paper thin mini housings.

Im diggin the knuckle paint, always was a fan of painting those

edit; yes thats a open dif

you could still use those but you would have to buy a 79-80 fj rotor and then a 81-85 fj rotor .    But  since you have IFS now  just  use your ifs hubs

depends. Really, all u need is the ifs hubs, 2 fj60 rotors, 12 fj60 wheel studs, and a 5/8 drill bit, 4 5/8 2 inch grade 8 bolts, 4 5/8th fine thread nylock nuts.

Remove sa hub toss it aside, grab ifs hub, unbolt rotor, smack off, smack out studs, put on fj60 rotor, smack longer fj60 studs thru to hold on rotor to hub, drill knuckle and caliper ears to 5/8th, its easy, hand drill, 2 min whole job. grind caliper 1/8th inch inside to fit over rotor, slide over rotor, bolt the caliper on with bolts and nylock washer. Bam looks like this with no spacers

You may end up haveing to move your steering box forward so you mite need to get a box mount as well .

87hillbillyoter

yea, i actually called marlin earlier today and left a message to see if my order had shipped, and if not if they could throw a mount kit in there :crossed:

If they don't get one throw in there for you, you should check out the wfo one.

that wfo is just a trail-g mount
Uh no it's not. Yes it's similar, but you're really gonna tell me they all aren't similar in design. Marlin wants $55, Tg wants $42, and wfo $40, and I have never heard of a problem with any of them.

RockRescue

UH  yes it is   and yes i am really going to tell you that it is.  Even WFO tells you that it is a T-G product .  I never said it would fail or 1 is better than another .
