Lights look much better with all 4 facing forward. Who makes that bumper?
And what is that big yellow thing that appears to be hanging over your bed?

87hillbillyoter

i know haha. i think i figured out the problem. i think the front left caliper is locking up. i took it for a little drive and when it started going crazy, i slammed the brakes and yanked the e-brake. it went away for a little bit but then came back again. so i think im gonna try new brakes on all 4 wheels see if that does anything.

haha i feel like i do own one. i just broke something in the front passenger hub, cv is fine, but the cv is just spinning inside the hub so i only have 2wd. on top of that i replaced my axle seal, inner, outer and the bearing on the rear passanger and the problem is still there. im about to put this thing on craigslist and buy another one. or part it out or something.

Did you do wheel cylinders when you did the brakes? Maybe one is sticking part of the time...

well the guy sold it, and my truck is broken again. i am so sick of this piece of :pokinit: breaking i might just light it on fire. the steering has a mind of its own. it will jerk anywhere it wants to go, i almost hit a few cars head on.  :maddest: i hate it
we've all been there with the trucks breaking constantly :p mine ends up in the garage like once every week, and my truck used to do the pulling thing, i just hammered on the break and it stopped. probbaly not the best idea... but its good for the time being :)

i didnt do the brakes, but i think im going to replace the front calipers, because sometimes when i slam on the brakes like jsimp said, itll go away. i definitely dont think it is the rear brakes thought, because it is yanking me hard left. im still tryin though, hopefully ill be cutting all this ifs crap off and putting a solid axle under there.

ive been so mad at my truck that ive contemplated setting it on fire too bro, i hear ya on that haha!

just gotta get past the rough patch and you'll see that its worth it... a couple months ago, i crashed my truck cause of the front locker... i took it out, and then got stuck on flat ground haha! (front of my truck was stuck on another truck i was pushing (dont ask) with my bumper). i got really angry, and juiced it... took the poor 22re up to 7000rpm haha! i drove it up to my house, and parked it for the night. the next morning, it wouldnt start... i spent 2 days messing with it, and then got really REALLY mad. i ripped it apart, and found like... quarter sized chunks in the oil pan... i pulled out 2 spare 22re's that had worn out timing chains too... then i got even more mad haha! so i just went out and picked up a 3.4L! i swapped it in, and absolutely loved it! i pulled a 2300lb uhaul trailer over 2 mountain passes to help the in-laws move. then a few weeks ago, i blew up the rear driveshaft... it just couldnt handle the hp anymore haha! twisted it right in half. so i built another one, and i got 500ft from my house when it let go... ripped the output shaft out of the transfer case, ripped the pinion out of the diff, gashed a huge hole in my floor, dented my gas tank REALLY good, caved in the side of my box too... i finally swapped all the broken stuff out, and built another driveshaft. took it out for a burn, and got literally 50ft past where i got last time when the 3rd driveshaft blew up... smacked the gas tank again, so hard, that it knocked the rubber tube off the fuel pump! so i was dead on the road... my dad just happened to be driving by, so he hooked his winch to my truck and towed me to the store to turn me around, then pushed me home haha!

i was quite angry by this point... i built yet another driveshaft and threw it in. but i didnt drive out of the yard, instead, i lifted the rear axle up on jackstands, and just tested it like that... well, i got up to 80km/h just fine. my bro said to juice it, so i stomed the skinny pedal, and the wheels got up to 110km/h and the driveshaft tweaked again...

so after all this dicking around, i finally decided to get a shop to build me a driveshaft for 250hp. gunna cost about 240$ though :( sucks big time! but i know that when i get it in, my truck is going to be indestructable again :) ive never broken anything in the bush. ive had to pull friends out before though haha! ive got the most modded/hardcore truck out of our little club. its wicked. the other guys all have IFS trucks though haha. im going to be SAS'ing my brother's 88 4runner this summer hopefully :) should be a fun project!

so basically, long of the short... try to make it through the rough patch, and if you do, you wont regret it! :) cheers bro!

what he said x2. if you look at my build you will see the stuff i had to deal with, it was even alot worse then what i've said or taken pictures of, it gets really really stupid at times where you just wanna throw in the towel. but just keep pluggin at it and it will get there some day. I would say buy new calipers and see what happens.

if you buy new calipers, you could make sure they are for like a 93 v6 or something, then when you do solid axle swap it, you could do the IFS mod right away, and your front axle will be sitting the same width as your rear ;) plus big brakes!

could your caliper be sticking?

it could be, but im 99% sure its not. then again, i could be wrong, i am a lot haha

Did they say what they thought was wrong? Thats a lot of money to dump into keeping the ifs going. You know there are cheaper alternatives to buying a sas kit, they just require more fabricating and all around work.

im going to talk to em today, see exactly what it is. i might just be replacing the cvs and see if it works. although i do really want to sas it, i just dont have the funds right now.

Your truck probably has a 1 inch bore MC already. My 88 did. Don't bother with that stuff, it's a waste of money IMO. Stock brakes work excellent and are overbuilt anyways.

Check the stamping on it. If it has a 1 on the side, it's 1 inch bore.
