Thanx.  i can't really do anything else on the rear this weekend sine i don't have a torche or the shock mounts.  guess i will work on cutting apart the front and making the winch fit.

True but it doesnt look like theirs coloring from the welds either so maybe it was flap disced after install?  Either that or I would worry about the welds.  But with the pic its hard to tell with the shine...

Duffil

I say he used heat/BFH/and a wire wheel or flap disc...you can tell because there is no rust there, and it it present on other parts of the same plate. :eye:

Hyena

Ya, i just beat it with a hammer adn wire wheeled it after i welded it.  everything will be welded with flux core so i have to clean it pretty good afterwards.  it wasn't that hard to beat the metal.

Hey man, what about something like this to finish up the rear truss.  You could make it so that there is a tab along the top tube, and have a removable piece bolted from that tab to the diff cover bolt pattern.  Just an idea.  Check www.diy4x.com ....they might have something for 60's, but all I saw on their site was this "Backbone" truss for 14 bolts.

I have thought about making some that bolts to the diff cover.  i can't use the bolts because the flatbar i put on it is in the way.  but i can make something else work.

I would do a rear truss similar to this one. I highlighted all the critical bolts you would need to build around in order to still be able to remove the cover but it seems to work out pretty good.

That truss would be sweet.

I like your heading. Hows the front look?

Would the rear bar be to reinforce the truss?  I cant imagine bending an axle front to rear.

its a little harder to do since there has to be room to take the diff cover off and the ring gear out.  i had thought about it but didn't really want to go that route.
