Dodge 60? Looks a bit rough but for the right price nothing a set of bearings and some clean-up work couldn't fix.

BTW, what it that concoction to the left in the first pic. Looks like square tube with brakes.  :gap:

yeah, looks like a heavy modded rear axle..

Hyena

Looks good.  i already have the gears and installation kit with a toy/60 flange.  i will clean it up with a wire wheel and shave what i can.  He wants $800 but would probably go lower.  Sunday would be the best day for me.  are you free that day Pat?  I'll give you a call either tomarrow or friday.

Freds40, i can change those hubs out to drive fanges can't I?

Ramrod

oh ya that axle on the left is a "slightly" gusseted rear 70 you should see the front that matches it

Yeah you just have to find a set of external dodge drive flanges. They only come in 30 spline but you can get them broached to 35 spline 1.5"

BTW, looking @ the condition of the axle, I'd try to get him down on the price a bit more.

Had to search but found it. This guy broached a set for me a few years back. A buddy and I sent a total of 3 sets of flanges and he charged us $60 a set. Not too much more for just 1 set though.

nice find pat... eye sore right now, but give it a wire wheel and a rattle can it will be looking pretty nice

Ramrod

its actually not nearly as rusty as it looks, he just took the cover off of it and its siting in a little barn

Doof

pics and in person are always different... but still sick none the less... 1-ton vs toy axle??? 1-ton wins hands down every time

All probably just get new 1/2 ton rotors and calipers.  Then get 35 spline drive flanges from Solid or something.

freds40

Unless I missed it somewhere, no one currently makes an aftermarket external 35 spline drive flange. All the aftermarket drive flanges for a 60 are the internal style. To run those with this axle, you would need to replace the wheel hubs (roughly $500). Otherwise like I mentioned, you will need to source a stock set of Dodge external drive flanges (can be had for $100) and have them broached (roughly $70).

Ramrod

theres at least 2 companies that make external d60 drive flanges.  just dont ask me who they are but I looked into it last night.  One is sold through off road overstock and look bling and the other is sold by someone else and looked pretty chill other than no dust cap

freds40

Got a link on the Solid setup? I'd be interested to see it. The only one I can find on their site is this: http://www.solidaxle.com/products/d60driveflange.htm

By new rotors i ment the wheel hub also.  but i thought about it today and i could probably just make them with a 35 spline spider gear.  doesn't look that hard and it is free.

Hyena

i can't find that thread on pirate now with the homebuilt hubs.

brad when will you get the hint that your truck sucks!!! just kidding i miss you guys!!!! but my new truck is way better!!!

gotrocks

Brad have you thought about converting it to 6 lug.  I did this on my buggy and I have 1/2 ton Chevy calipers with drive slugs.  You probably don't want to and can't since you have a full float rear but its just an idea.  I have a source if your interested though on 6 lug spindles, caliper mounts and part #'s for the calipers.

Hyena

I thought about it but a buddy that did it to his said it was expensive.
