What tranny are you runnin now?  It's a lot less for one with the automatic, and you obviously can make a bellhousing to fit whatever you want, so the real downside would be getting a flywheel.  I can pass along the contact info for the guy near you, maybe he actually has it in stock.  For the price it's worth a try, if it fits in your budget.  Otherwise I could put you directly in touch with mike hooper from jarco, maybe you can do some sweet talking or figure out a different path to take.

please sweat talk some of them for me....  or get me into touch with them

Phew!  You had me thinkin I was ignorant of some super secret, super powerful toyota diesel Bazzi!  Are the 1kzte hard to come by over there?  If you can find em, how much do they run?  I would think there would hafta be somebody there who could import them straight from japan, but you never know.

Edit:  Does your truck have the 1kzte or 2Lt/2Lte Bazzi?

my truck has a 2lt. I have shorter cylinders = less compression = more turbo pressure. and some other sweet stuff that gives me a litle extra but the 1kzt has so much better hmmm (don´t know the right word) possibility...

The 1kzt is available here from the original 4runner and from the landcruiser ... I can go and pick one up to morrow if I like but it costs around 5-6000 dollars. Complett with all viers and trans and t-case.  If I take one of those engines I can pick the cruiser and I would have acces to that cruiser to pick upp all the parts I want. But it´s a litle bid to much expensive for me.
But if I find it in the u.s or somewhere else I would have to pay for the shipping and that probably only saves me a couble 100 dollars but I have to find out how much the tax is.

If I remember correctly the 1kzt has the same gear box as the  3.0 litre v6 r150f or something like that.....? and herefore I was gonna use the same conversion as for the v6 t-cases?

It's fine, been busy doing house things and have not had time to do anything to it. Plus it is the time of year for us that I don't want to be in the middle of any mods when a trail ride is announced.

I still have idears for it's continuing transformation.

I'm looking foward to keeping up with this.

so what are the chances of u makin another toyota tranny to nissan diesel adaptor? my buddy is doin the swap on his 82 sr5 yota with a 4 speed tranny, and the motor is comin out of a 2wd nissan so his options are buildin a custom bellhousing, or buyin an inchworm divorced t-case adaptor and using the nissan 2wd tranny

Sam!! You totally made me laugh and smile. Thank you. It was quite a trip and if it wasn't for us hooking up with Marlin and the Marlin board there is no way we would have had this so well documented.
Marlin and the board ROCKS! Thanks everyone (ESPECIALLY BIGMIKE FOR MAKING THIS ALL POSSIBLE)  for you support!

There is always the chance it could be done, BUT it is a lot of work and may not be worth it unless you don't mind being under powered on the hwy. I have been toying with the idea of going to a Toyota diesel, but hav not yet found one I want.

When I do this one could be sold, but not until it is out. There is also a mod that needs to be done to the crank to except a Toyota pilot bearing and a custom throwout bearing sleve needs to be made.

I would hate to see you go with a devorced Tcase, but for now the bellhousing is out.

he doesnt mind the power loss, he is great at tuning diesels, and it will be towed to the trail, so the highway is not a prob, what toy diesels have u thought about? the 1kzte?  i cant find one for him for a decent price, they are worth gold.  why would the divorced t-case be a bad ideal?

Willy Mammoth

#2091
1kzt yes and there was one here in Miami that sold on ebay for 2500, but the wiring harness was cut at the brain and engine, nothing in between.

A divorced case = viberation problems + you will have a long front shaft with almost no rear shaft.

I did this with my Nissan when I put the 4.3 in it. I also tore the mounting brackets off the Tcase because of the extra movement caused by a divorced case.

Look for a bellhousing for a 1980 IH scout II diesel. It has a SD33 engine and the bellhousing should fit the SD22. Make sure you get the fork and all. You can have a bronze bushing made up to fit the Toyota input shaft and the Nissan crank.

Use a Toyota clutch disk and a Nissan pressure plate with a Nissan throwout bearing.

Now what I don't know is if the Toy and Niss input shaft are the same length.

You will also need to figure out how to mate the Nissan bellhousing to the Toyota transmision.

he doesnt care what tranny and t-case he runs, he is not into hard core wheelin, he is mostly a diesel fanatic, so the scout tranny and t-case would work if the t-case had a pass. side drop, but its a drivers side, but i know where we can get some scout d44's for free, so that might work, thanks for all the help, i will show him all this helpful info, and keep me updated on if u go toy diesel and want to sell your bellhousing setup.
Thanks
