when you can swap out pretty much any part from any year toyota into another with nothing more than some creative bracketry/modification, and some simple cut and splicing of plugs.

Nah just get a $75 universal cat and weld flanges on the ends and swap them between trucks. My 4runner just passed smog today with my universal deal, now I can put it on the 82 and go pass smog.

BoG-ToY

new cats up here have serial numbers.... and they record them when they do a smog?

thing is... how do they know how old it is? when it was installed.... if you install a used one... the gasket was leaking.... so you replaced the gasket......

The cat law is for new cats installed on or after Jan 1 2009.

So it was installed before 12-31-2008

If the cat doesn't look brand new,  they shouldn't be checking it............
