not right

I am still in the process of moving from Colorado to Quitman, TX- right down the road from Barnwell (in Gilmer). Somehow I found this thread in a search and had to chime in. I will be right off 154 right east of Quitman. I was working at a shop  in CO, but am going to be startin my 'own gig' in TX now. I have a tube rig based on an 84 drivetrain, dual cases, 4.7s, one-link coiled rear, etc. I'll be starting a few new projects as soon as I get all the tools and parts down here.
If anyone wants to hitup Gilmer, I will have the rig here at the end of the month and be ready to get wid it.
Hope to see yall Texans on the trails.

not right

Id just get a body lift instead of a susp. lift on the nissan. I have a Calmini lift on my Xterrible, and it has caused nothing but grief and worn out parts/tires. :tantrum:  It did better offroad when it was stock. I wish I had just done a body lift and put on bigger tires.
well, NOW I wish I had never done ANYTHING to it, or never even bought it, but its too late now. :shake_head:  It DID do pretty good in Moab yrs ago..kept up w/ all the XJs I was with, and even 'outran' a few of them on the trail.  :shhh:

79coyotefrg

say it with me

BODY LIFT'S ARE BAD DOODOO,,,,,,,,,,,,,  over 2 " anyway

body lifts kinda suck, but usually cause less probs than a susp. lift on IFS. At least on Nissans.. they allow for bigger tire clearance, and dont screw up all the steering geometry and other crap that leads to broken/worn out parts and toasted tires.
Id still have a decent-riding X if I had just gotten a BL and the 32s..oh well..

red

i've got 31's on it right now. i was plannin a 3 inch suspension lift and getting the stiffer torsion bars. hey not right everybody that i've talked to that have gotten the calmini lifts on the hardbody pickups(which is what i have) say that its improved the ride on and off road and hasnt caused any damage to their suspension. maybe they f**ked up on the xterra lifts?

weird. all I hear about is worn out steering components (idler, centerlink, etc) and bent tie-rod connectors..
not to mention the difficulty of a good alignment, and keeping it that way.
I drive like a banshee though..I guess jumping ANY truck is a bad idea. LOL. It doesnt see trails anymore, so I kinda wish it was back to stock. :(
