I have the downey cable as well and it really looks simple, i dont see having a problem with it

see what i mean. i could get mine to work great at my house but at as soon as i would get on the trail it was always a no-go. im switching back to electric.

Rocksurfer

The cable conversion is very sensitive to adjustment, took a friend of mine a few trips out to get it right. Worked great once he had it adjusted right.

ok, i got the holes drilled in the ifs housing then decided i'd install the cable on the elocker in the truck (this was later deemed a mistake) :ack:

here we go

freeze plug in the housing

made some knotches with a grinder in the shift rail so the allen head studs would have something to hang onto

now the kit didnt come with any type of gasket to keep oil from leaking between the alum block "adapter" and the housing, so i made one

using the block and a small hammer with a light touch

AR-TTORA founder 22R bored.060,LCE stage II race cam http://pure-gas.org/    32/36weber, :driving: Marlin 1200 NON ceramic clutch, L52SHD+dualcase #2919, cable-locker, Yukon 5.29 gears, 35's, Allpro ebrake, front springs, and high steer, F150rears    RIP Nitro 9-29-07 :(  I sure miss him  MarlinCrawlerInc IS NOT affiliated with TrailGear in any way

after installing i realized the center hole in the "adapter" wasnt bored square to the block

it worked fine when loose, but when tightened it would jam solid

i also realized the stock shock was in the way,  to remedy this i cut the upper can off the shock and mounted it upside down

i also found that sliding the block over the shift adapter then attaching it to the cable before attaching it to the shift rail worked alot easier than twisting the cable to thread it onto the thing

it wasn't difficult to fix the "not square" i just needed to find what the problem was,  I will be in touch with Jim at Downey so this problem gets fixed

a little work with the proper sized stone

and a little taper on this thing,

all helped to make a smooth shifting cable assembly
