Dingman.

Well im still working on this for tonight..

I got the power steering worked out AFAIK, changed the belts, got the alternator to stop coming in contact with the steering rod.
Now i am putting on the fan and shrould...

My question is do i use the 3.0 or the 3.4 fan clutch?   I don't think it matters, but for now im planning on using the 3.4 since it has 130,000 less miles on it... Let me know if there is some weird ass reason i shouldn't..

THK Matt

try it... whats the worst thing that can happen? it doesnt fit right?

whoopty do, 4 nuts and its off to swap for the 3.0 Fan.

Dingman.

I have to pull the radiator first in order get the fan on..

Oh well be back in later gonna put the fan on.... Later guys

Dingman.

So i got the power steering setup done tonight..
Got the new belts on.  (the previous owner had the power steering belt and the alternator belt in each others places.
So with my new belts, i put them on and it finally got my power steering pump vertical and the alternator out of the steering rod.

Got the radiator back in, along with the fan and shroud, radiator over flow and windsheild washer resivor...

Its comming along, Not too much mechanical stuff to do..    Hopefully tomorrow i can get a good jump on the wiring..  After the engine bay is done..   i at least want to get the battery harness run, the alt, starter, and stuff like that wired up...  Then i can work on the body harness stuff...

gnob

hold this. . .

Goose

Im looking foward to seeing this thing run!
Your doing your own wiring harness right?
I live down in oroville, and i really wouldnt mind coming up and helping you out some if you needed it.
Itd be worth it to get the practice for when i do my 3.4 swap!

Dingman.

haha!  Help is always good... Im hoping to have it running SOON...

All i have left is the wiring, the weld the exhaust, and some coolant lines...
Tomorrow we are going to get started on all of the above.

Tonight i got the starter connected (soldered a connector onto the harness), got the battery wires ran to the other side of the engine bay.

Hey im usually good for helping people out,  i do like to wrench...  SO when i get this done and you decide to venture on this project i would most likely be willing to lend a hand.

Dingman.

Nope there is a lot of :pokinit: still not connected..

A bunch of vacuum lines, the air filter wasn't clamped down enough, no exhaust after teh crossover...

Still quite abit needs to be done..
Yes for now that is the auto ecu.

TheCookieMonster

cool, your on the home stretch now...more than likely the vacuum lines are the idling problem?? nice work on getting the auto ecu to work. sounds like you got it handled  :beerchug:

Dingman.

Yea i had some BIG help from vital22re over on yotatech..

I spent quite a few hours on the phone with him, helping me with the wiring..

I just need to wrap it up for now..
Then when i get the MT ecu ill FINALIZE everything.

Dingman.

Well i haven't driven it yet only started it up..

As you can tell it sounds like it is struggling a bit.  Its a healthy motor, but there is quite a few vacuum lines not hooked up yet. . Also the exhaust is not done.

For now all i did was put a paper clip to jump connections 13d and 14d on the ecu.   That was for the neutral/safty park switch..  So for now it thinks its in neutral..   Now that i know it will start up i will actually splice/soder the wires together.

Okay so i just went out and bypassed the heater core. Filled the system up with coolant and drove it around the neighborhood for a mile or two... IT WAS SURE NICE DRIVING MY RIG AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still have to do quite a bit to it, but i got to drive it. Seems like it is doing good, for the exhaust leaks, missing o2 sensor, but i can spin 36's pretty good from a start!

finish that thing before driving it like that... you bonehead.

Driving it like what?   :gap:

why did you bypass the heater core ??
The only reason i bypassed the heater core, is just cause i don't have a proper bend in a certain hose.  So i just bypassed it so i could drive it around the block a couple times.

Ill fix it as soon as i get some dough for more hoses.

Dingman.

Yea i like it.  its a good motor.

I will still have some kinks to work out, but i guess for the most part the majority of the swap is done!

Dingman.

Shaddup travis!   :gap:

So did some "slight wheeling today" nothing hard core but regardless i drove it.
Put about 20 miles on it!

Okay so update:

Put about 200 miles on this pregnant dog so far.
Im liking it.  HA..

Power is nice, much more responsive, and im sure it will be a bunch better when i get my correct ecu later...

Now i just need to get these damn exhausts leaks fixed...

Dingman.

Okay guys just got my tach working. Just soldered on the resistor.

FYI i read somewhere i cannot remember where, but people were saying if you ran your truck without doing the tach mod you would blow out your tach.. Well this is wrong. Ive put 200 miles on my rig until now, and the tach works.

Idles at 700.
