On the A10 Pin for VSS, does it have to be connected to VSS or grounded.... or can the wire be pulled from the plug all together.

Ground it, see how it drives then decide on if you need VSS.  A VSS signal is just pulses of ground.

Dam ur rig looks good alot of custom work. Are u a mechanic or a electrical specialist?

I am a mechanic, but in my field you need to be a jack of all trades.  I am not an auto-mechanic by any means, more of an industrial type.

Can I ground it like lets say 8in from the plug... on the body?

Runner as it sits, tore up for winter..

I just fabbed and installed my tank MK-II This one has a sump 6" lower than the main tank area.  I still need to mount and level 1 corner.  Was thinking of putting an arm rest on it, for the poor sucker who sits next to it.

The alley

I was thinking of sectioning an ammo can and stick it over the brake stuff.  Make it so the lid slides back instead of a flip top box.

Projects

Custom Rear axle housing
A little exo stuff
Console
Make a double ended ram ( cause I am cheap and have the equipment )

I have a few more at THK' s build

Thats another obstacle i am going to have to overcome. I want to get a ford tank and put it in the spare tire area in between the frame rails. I dont know the condition of the stock carb tank and I want to run all new lines anyways. whats your take on that?

And being as I have a 3in BL and I am going to raise my drivetrain... my gas tank will be my new lowest point.... may as well raise it for clearance, gain fuel capacity and just a better idea :P

I hear alot of people use that tank, sounds good.  You will need 3/8" fuel line for the high pressure, and 5/16 line for the return.  I used aluminum line with AN fittings for my High pressure and Rubber for my return line.

Blew up an ESAB machine last week, you should have seen the flames.

We got this one today, wow these new machines !  It does it all, except AC, too bad for TIG aluminum.  But it will spool anything, and does pulse for sheet metal, as well as TIG and Stick.  100% to 275 and 60% duty after 275 amps.  Yay, I can run Outershield.  I love Lincoln.  $3500

I'll continue to use this masterpiece for all TIG.

If you can find a motherboard, and Caps for a ESAB 250/251, its yours.

Yeah, I am going to use our old tube bender today, maybe it will break and we'll have to buy a new one  :crossed:

4RunnerChevy

New Project.  I have decided to make 25mm steering arms.  My old ones are fine, but with all this 25mm craze, I can't help my self.

Figured out the bearing size, and they are available through NSK, KOYO, TIMKEN.  Will post when I get them, as before.

I ordered some 4130 Rod today, and I'll use low to medium carbon for the arms (maybe 1018 or even 1045).  We will see what happens, my 17mm arms have been run since 2001.  I am unsure wether I will use my 5th stud or not, we will see.  Lathe work first, then mill work.  Pics when I get there.

I definately love how u make things yourself man.

Did all the rough cutting of my new arms, and got the angles dialed in.  Next is a little shaping,  tie-rod holes, and drag hole.  I will continue to use 3/4 heims (straight hole) for the tie-rod, and put a taper hole for the Drag.  Then I am gonna get the bottom caps roughed, and mill the hole pattern in all 4 pieces at once (i'll fly cut all mating surfaces).  Not sure if i'll break all the edges with a flap wheel, or spend the time and mill a radius on all the edges.

Chromo and bearings are coming. More to come.

Thanks, Bro !  It seems I build, insure, and register more than I wheel.  Man I need to get out more.

4RunnerChevy

Steering arms are ready for the next step.  The question is, should I put some hardness on the kingpins.  I am using 4130.  My current pins are 1080 normal, and are still dead nuts, after many years.  The 1080 is about (guessing) 40 k, and The 4130 is 60K normal.  I don't want too brittle, I can go 160K hardened.  Since no welding will occur,  I might go with caramel, for just a little toughness. mmmmmmm Caramel

Ok, step 2 done.

Did
-Cut Length.
-Drilled Holes, 3/4" for the Tie, and Tapered hole for TRE (maybe switching to these for Drag, if not I can open to 3/4 heim).
-Shaped.
-Flycut surfaces.
-Drilled, and countersunk hole pattern.
-Left center pin hole small, so I could finish bore once pins are machined.

Waiting on
-Bearings (next week early)
-Chromo (Friday or Monday, signature guy was out of town)
-Socket head bolts (grade 12.9, Friday)

Already have
-Star lock washers (anti rattle) for the Screws.
-New old style bearings, to check dimensions.  I believe the new bearings are 1mm taller, so I will adjust at the pins.
-Shims.
-Hopes and Dreams.
-A little good luck.

To do
-Radius the edges (for a somewhat clean look, and to help bottom caps negotiate rocks).
-Machine Pins.
-Treat Pins.
-Finish bore Arms, and Caps to the pin.
-Bead blast again, and paint.
-Install.

Pic so far, there are more pics further back.

All this, is why I only do it for myself.  Sorry for the rough photo, it was with my Pixi 3 meg.

Enjoy!
