Hopefully you have all the engine management sensors and whatnot.  I wanted mine to be Cali legal, so I opted for a donor rig, which gave me exhaust, intake and smog equipment.  You should be fine.  What engine are you running ?, and what are your plans for a Tranny ?

bustatoy

its a tpi i believe its out of a 97 blazer. im planing on using toyota 5 speed.

4RunnerChevy

bustatoy

well i changed my mind. im thinking it is going to be easier to put an automatic in it since the blazer that the engine came out of is an automatic. less of a headache with wiring and getting the ecm programed for a manual.

why did u swap out the 5mge? how did it compare to the chevy v6? more or less power

Just remember they are not low end-torque engines.

The R series trans will hold up fine.... the supra's use the same series trans and handle gobs of power.

Not really, I kept the brakes and body harness that's about it.  I did keep the engine fuseblock, so I could get power from it.  What exactly are you looking for, maybe I can help.

the toyota engine fuseblock?

Well I am gathering all the info I can for a 96+ 4.3L Swap with 700r4/4L60 swap into my 87 Xcab longbed.
I want to do it the cheapest yet most effective way of swapping. I dont wanna drop my wallet at it... but i dont wanna go with lowgrade crap.
Could you by chance do a electric diagram? of like what is being spliced from the truck to the engine.. for like sensors and stuff.

I hear you about saving a buck, give me a little info about your motor.  Is it TPI, CPI, or TBI ?  Does the Computer have another smaller box with it (DRAC) ?  Does it need to be smog legal (California) ?  Will you be running the Toy Transfer case ?

The 4.3 Engine harness is easy, it just goes into the ECU.  There will be about 15-20 left over wires, and you only need about 5.  Your Toyota dash guages/sensors can be plumbed into the block and water jacket.

To save money I used the stock 4.3 radiator.  I also used the wiring harness from the 4.3 and did not buy one.  I am also Cali smog legal, so I had to by an exempt VSS from JTR (these are usually back ordered and take months to get).  I got rid of my DRAC and wired to VSS directly to the ECU.  Although a DRAC can be modified for tire size.

Give me that info mentioned earlier, and I'll send some info.  I have the Downey manual, which is really helpful as well as pinouts for the ECU.

Well I do not have one yet.... as I am trying to aquire as much info as I can prior.
I am getting a 96+ CPI Vortec, I live in Idaho... No smog!!!
I will be using a 21spl Toy Transfer Case

Not familiar with DRAC..

DRAC takes a vehicle speed sensor signal and splits it to electric speedo, ABS, and ECU.  If you are not using ABS or Electric Speedo, then its not needed.  It does however have jumpers inside to correct for tire size.  I don't use one.  Since you don't have smog then you don't need the VSS, some people just put that wire to ground (I don't know how it affect drivability).  JTR has a VSS that screws into the speedo port of your T-Case, and your speedo cable screws into it.  You will also need a shifter for the auto, I used BM but you could probably find a floor shifter at the junk yard.

I would go with a 700R4, cause it has less electronics than its newer brother.  The 700R4 requires 1 less adapter to mate with the transfer case.  Keep in mind you will have to change the tailshaft of the 700 with the one that comes with the adapter.  This costed me $200 at a tranny shop, and I got heavy duty clutches at the same time.  Either way you will need a brake light switch from an automatic or a 12 volt NC relay.  This will unlock your Torque converter when you brake.

Other stuff
I used the stock chevy motor mounts and fabbed new frame mounts for the toy, Chevy Motor mounts are in-exspensive.

I was able to locate my crossmember in its stock location, so nothing changed for the shifters.  I mounted the radiator forward, but still behind the grill.  I am able to run the stock fan or electric fans :) .  Yes I have perfect access to my distributor, dis-spell any rumors.

I have a 2" body lift but it can be done without, you may have some clearance issues with the front driveshaft and exhaust crossover pipe.  You don't need smog, so you can eliminate the crossover pipe.

Some good reading,  JTR have been doing conversions forever.

That will help greatly.

I have a 3in BL So I will have lots of room... I can even raise my drivetrain up too :D but that could create a higher COG.
Whats this brake light switch you speak of.

Brake light switches, behind the pedal.  Most auto's came with a switch that has 1 N.O. contact for the actual lights, and 1 N.C. contact for the Torque converter circuit.

I'll send some info shortly, hope you have High Speed Internet

THK Matt

I have Cable Internet, 7mbps! :D
Send away!

and my truck came stock with a 22R and 5spd (2wd) should have a BLS right?
so the donor i get that will most likely be AT, I will have to get a BLS for the trans to tap into my OEM BLS on the truck.

Is that what you're saying?

My runner was originally 5spd also.  If you get a donor switch you will have to figure out how to mount it to your brake pedal.  I just used an automotive relay with a normally closed contacts.  I fed relay holding coil with the hot from the brake lights, then I ran TCC circuit through the relay.  When you step on the brakes the relay opens up and the Torque converter unlocks.

Let me know if I can help further, I can always go look at my wiring.  When stops raining.

with the 2 pics you sent in the email itself (there was 3) one says "All these connections are in the engine harness and should not need to be connected"

One of the Two plugs that connect to the ECU is engine managment, you should not have to do anything with theses wires,  they connect to the sensors on the engine.  You still need it, but shouldn't have to do anything with it, just plug all the sensors in.
