I picked up this '74 Coleman pop up for 300 bucks and went down to Flat Nasty for a week of wheelin...its a 2 1/2 hour drive each way..hehe....the people down there couldnt believe that I had towed the camper..wheeled balls out and then towed it home  :king:

I'm still in the process of fixing it up some

One night my brakes went out on the first hill of trail 17 when I was winching and a cable snapped..it was a little scary! :yikes:

Luckily, I rolled about 20 feet back and was able to turn into a tree without flipping

Didnt get any wheelin pics sorry..check out the rock rash on the bottom of the axle  :suprised:

I'm impressed you can drive on the road and trailer with that baby. Awesome! How fast were you towin'?

I'm looking into the TG winch plate. How's your approach angle? Any qualms about that? Looks good!

Yea, Faber met up with us and Chad, Mike, Cindy, and Orland....it was a blast!

I towed it about 65....about 55 on the hills....I had supplies and stuff for a week so I was pretty heavy

I like the TG winch plate......great approach and base to build a bumper on...No qualms so far

Got any pics of your angry broken Bilstein shock?
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Not sure exactly what happened.....I think I got mad (because I had just blown a bead and spent a while fixing it) and bombed a gnarly hill full speed......next thing u know i had wheels up in the air....truck a bouncin....and wham!!!!

Driveshaft on the ground and a bent spring...the repair was another t-case slapped on and I still havent decided what to do with the Marlin spring :dunno:

YEa Im not quite sure still...I didnt think I could ever bend them....they are NINE leaf Marlin US springs :( and I have an aluminum FLAT bed with ZERO weight on the rear...it had to be axle wrap

SO, now I'm working on doing a SOA conversion on the camper.....seems simple enough...all I gotta do is weld some new spring mounts on top of the axle and flip the center pin on the leaf!

Updates soon.....

I think you have answered your own question, wrap baby. I used to bend mine in that exact spot on my 4runner all the time. Every time I wound up that turbo and let it fly up an obstacle it would bend them right there.

Try a farm supply store.  They have axle stuff for all sorts of trailers.  Just take the measurements before you go.

By the way, that crappy worn out stick on fake woodgrain stripe down the side of the pop up doesn't look very angry.

if you have a trailer shop near you you can bring in the old seal and if they dont have the exact one i'm sure they could order it or atleast find something close enough to work.

yeah I do. NAPA. :cheese: I know my store at least...we do a ton of trailer stuff. about 85-90% of our total business is AG related. Tractors and trailers and all that crap. that thing have trailer brakes? probably a #17146 being as light as it is.

DTB

So I started working on my SOA conversion for the pop up.....its basically a pair of 6 dollar spring mounts and flipping the center spring pin. I think I gained about 3.5 inches of lift. I also picked up some new u-bolts, tires and gave the axle a complete overhaul.
