square tube anyone?  8)

Wow... Just wow... That is terribly unsafe and looks awful.

Just because it's done on a budget doesn't mean it has to look like shiznit and perform about the same.

I apologize for being blunt. Please try again.

I'll spare you how I really feel about your "roll cage". Have a nice day, "bud", and I pray you never have to rely on your handy work.

Dang it! I can't say anything nice, and don't know how to keep my fingers shut. I'd love to rip ya a new one but honestly square tube makes for really stong roll protection, when done right. Just look at most industrial equipment like dozers, forklifts, and such, all square tube roll protection. Some bracing and triangulation will help, but most of all tie those tubes together with some scab plates where the tubes are welded end to end. I hope this helps.

Good luck and I hope you live to wheel another day. Btw I think its ugly to, but everyone has an opinion.

I hope this is nice enough to keep me from being hit by the ban hamma again. I am doing my best to hold back.  :lipsrsealed:

Its not like that. One day youll understand, when your older. Ya know, like 21   Kids will be kids, and sometimes even adults will be kids.  :shake: I think its more that most people build a cage for some sence of safety or protection. When someone post up something unsafe its hard for the person on the other side of the screen to understand comprehend or even justify why so much effort was put into it. It seems though with your light hearted post this was done just to pass a day learning how to fab. Props to you for that, there are way worse things you could have done during that time instead.

Nope, that's for real, Glen  :ack:

You're right. It is your noggin' you're protectin', and you have the right to do whatever you want with your truck. I guess the thing that's so frustrating is that we try to educate and encourage others to build with the idea of safety first. It's hard to accept when something radically different (and in my opinion, very unsafe) is posted and the owner thinks it's all kicks and giggles that it's an abortion on wheels.

BUT, it's your truck, it's probably better than nothing, and like Gittinit mentioned, at least you're practicin' fabbing and spending a day with your truck.

I apologize for jumping on you. To each their own.

Crawling82toyota

as far as the square pipe goes..... :reg:

why not build it out of 4x4 pieces of douglas fur hahahha

Slolyfe

Im not saying that i would ever build a square cage but here is one done right. I talked to Larry of yotaman in santa rosa and he said this is as strong as any tube cage. I think it is all square 1 inch, but forget the material.

pumkin toy

that cage is all stainless steel, so it is going to be stronger than regular steel.  the main hoops on the bed are obviously not one inch, but it looks like the rest is close to that.  that rig has got to be pretty damn heavy!

Stainless hardens after any heat cycle and then gets brittle. Therefor once welded, not a strong as regular steel(whatever that is)
