Yodamans square tube job is done right and with good quality also. I'm sure it gets the job done and all and is a bit on the heavy side i would think. But man it sure is ugly on the other hand, ya just cant make square tube look right ya know. It looks like it got laid over in the parking lot and smashed the round tube all flat. It is different and cool in a way but not for me, it reminds me of like a chop saw table stand thingie from on the job site when i see the square tube...... ha ha I do like the polished stainless steel look, thats props right der!!!! Square tube should stay on the roof racks where it belongs.... :twocents:

Bear with me, lots of pics coming....

This is by far my favorite exo, of any style, full/partial/whatever.  This is owned and built by the owner of Frontier 4x4, he does some amazing work!

He built a very well thought out exo that is low key, fits the body lines perfect, keeps the front tucked behind the fenders, is braced from side to side all throughout the truck with removable tubes (using tube clamps, not shown in pictures) and just plain looks awesome!  I'm not going to comment on each picture but thought these were relative as they show how the fenders/body are cut to accommodate the tube going through/behind, how he incorporated and tied in all the tubing and basically how the it looks with/without the sheetmetal on...

And it actually got wheeled despite looking so pretty...

I do have some other pics somewhere of the aftermath of other wheeling trips, he wasnt easy on this 4runner and the tubing got used/abused and held up great.  The front fenders obviously got crunched being over the tubes but the rest of the truck held up great.  He has since repaired all the body damage that was done and sold it, havent seen or read anything about it since.  Wish i would've had the cash to buy it!

the cage looks great!  but the only thing i dont like is the fact that the cage is welded to the body and the frame.  but it looks like he is still using body mounts.  I dont see he purpose of body mounts if you cage is welded to the body :headscratch:

The Frontier 4runner cage is not not welded to the body anywhere.  The body is cut and the tubes run through it.  That truck was the main inspiration for my Courier cage.

I must be missing something then.  If  you look at the pics, the rear tube that is grafted into the rear fender is welded directly to the rock slider, which is connected to the entire cage.  Therefore the body is welded to the cage

Looks really good. When you have a moment it would be cool to see some upclose shots to see what can't be seen. Some pics looking down to the top would be cool.

Yup it looks the same to me as well. Maybe with the cage the frame does not flex enough to have much impact?

You are correct the fender tubes are welded to the sliders. The sliders are also welded to the body but not the frame.

I was looking at it wrong, I thought you were talking about the "rear tube" that runs along the top of the bed side... My bad

Wow, this is a bad ass thread. There are a lot of good ideas in there. This is a must see if you plan to build a cage. I also agree exo is the way to go, at least partial.

Yea, that's the best way to go. I have a full on off road crawler and a on off road crawler. The full on off road truck I could care less about the body.
