Marlin, the tranny worked Awesome!!!

We DNF'ed and I think that #760 Brandt Anderson won, not sure, saw them go by at RM 62 on their final lap. Way to go Brandt!

I started the race with Jason in the Co-Dog seat, 1st off the line in 7S. The start was a silty, extremely dusty mess with carnage everywhere. We didn't have the first 2 miles of the course on our GPS which probably helped us because everyone was stuck in and next to the racing line. We zig zaged our way through without being able to see past the front bumper for about 5-6 miles. Since we did not get a chance to pre run we settled into a drive what you can see pace and motored along. At RM 43 the lower ball joint broke out of the lower a-arm, we did not see anyone pass us up until we broke and #760 Brandt came by about 9 min. after we stopped, got it fixed with probably an hour of down time. Back on course to our pit at RM 63 for a splash of fuel and check out the repair. Mrs. Steele got around us and we followed them to our pit. Truck checked out good, took off to main pit. Passed Mrs. Steele stopped around RM 94ish. Made it to main for a splash of fuel and truck check, everything good off for 2nd lap. No problems on 2nd lap, handed over the driving to team mate Kevin with Jason still in the Co-Dog seat. They made it around to RM 45ish and spent a little more time on a silt hill than they wanted to but got up it, then at RM 50 the pinion nut backed out and the yoke fell off. All the parts were still there including the nut! They went to put it back together but the threads for the pinion nut were all messed up so it would not thread on and the splines on the yoke were messed up as well. They ended up pounding the yoke on with a rock not putting the nut on and limping the truck out at 2-5mph from RM 50 to RM 60 road crossing stopping a-lot to put the yoke back on after it would fall out again. They finally made it to RM 60 at 12:30am. We towed it back to our pit, loaded up and headed out to Mesquite to grab a room and some sleep. Stop in Mesquite at Virgin River, no rooms we were told they have rooms at Oasis, go there no rooms. Drive to St George, go to a hotel, no rooms, to tired to go anywhere else slept 5hrs in the trucks then back on the road to Colorado, some snow in Utah and the last 40 miles of our drive was in a blizzard! We made it home, had a great time, and the MINT course is one rough, silty course!

Good question....... We get really busy this time of year getting the race track and all the cars ready for the season.  I am heading out on a family vacation in a couple of weeks and will try to get down there late May into June sometime.

So if anyone is interested here is a broadcast of the Mint 400 on Versus if you get that channel.  I guess last weekend was the first showing of it but it's on again on Thursday.  I haven't seen it yet but I have been told there is a short snippet of us off the starting line!

It isn't on there as the Mint 400........it's called Lucas Oil Motorsports Hour.  Maybe that helps and I found it on Wednesday as well.  It's on at 3pm both days here in Colorado.

Imagine that........ we get on national TV and we didn't get the correct fender in time from the fiberglass guys so they film the side of the truck with no fender!  Oh well........ any shot is a good shot on TV!  Speaking of which, you could see the Marlin Crawler sticker bright as day!
