Some more updates.  Just got home from prepping the truck for the last couple of days.  Thanks to Paul, Kevin, Josh, Foster, and Perusse for the extra hand!

Seats are almost done being mounted.
We started to chase after our electrical gremlins and found some loose wires.
Three of four shocks have been rebuilt....Waiting on a new shock piston for one of the shocks.  They sent the wrong one the first time.
The rear end is all together (sitting on the ground) with shocks installed except the traction bars.....waiting on two new heims to install the bars.
The front end is all together and sitting on the ground....waiting for the last shock to be done and will be installed.
The engine oil was changed.
The gear oil in the tranny was changed out.
The engine was started and warmed up to check that everything including the electric fan was in working order.

Here are a couple more pictures!

Kevin.....Booger weldin' again!

Rear axle all good in the hood again!

Prepped rear axle......Ready for a win!

How many guys does it take to mount the front fender! From left to right Josh, Brent Perusse, and Shawn Foster.

Not sure if we want to be a part of the white fender kid club!

Working on mounting the new Sparco Seats!

So we went to the dyno today and I was wrong on what we had on the dyno from over a year ago....  Our first pull today was putting 125hp and around 140ft lbs of tq to the ground which was right about where we were two years ago.  By the end of our tuning we had put down 138hp and had dropped about 3ft lbs of tq but opened up the tq curve to last for about 1500 more rpms!  Our previous pulls were only going up to 6300 rpm and today we were able to run it up to 6900 rpm!  At 6500 rpm we had a 25hp gain from before!  When they email the info to me I will post up the curves.

Here is the sheet I scanned into the computer!  The numbers are cool to see...... the feeling you get with your head against the seat off the start tells the whole story!  I can't wait to race next weekend!

Jason, what are the y-axis values for the torque curve?

Thanks,

So here is some in-car footage of Fire Guys Racing in the 7s race on Saturday.  My co-driver was my girlfriend of a few years who only has had about 10 miles in the passenger seat out testing before this race.  I was really impressed how she did!  I lost my air and intercom on the first lap and had to stop to get the pit crew to hook me back up......It got me a little discombobulated for a little bit driving and trying to find it and she said it freaked her out not being able to talk with me but she dealt with it like a champ!  I have to warn you there are two or three "bad" words in this video.......sorry, but if you have cable at home your kids have heard it before!  Oh yeah...... Dan Unsicker scared the crap out of us towards the end of the video!  All was well, but it was close!

It was all wiring and not engine related..... It began with breaking the two 1 gauge wires that go to the post on the alternator.  These wires started bouncing around and arcing on the back of the alternator melting a big hole in the back of it so it wouldn't work anymore.  While doing this, different things around the truck started to burn up like the ignition switch in the dash amongst other things and things we haven't found yet!

Looks good guys...too bad about the issue.  Damn I wish I would have read this sooner, I would have found you guys and talked to Marlin about making me one of those race trannies!  I blew 3rd gear up on sunday, and had to run a whole lap 2nd-4th gear....lost like 3 positions.  I saw Kevin in the casino but didnt even think about it at the time.  I need to do something different, I cant even make a new rebuilt transmission last more then 500 off road miles in my truck!
