Wow...... Sorry I haven't been on here in awhile!  We fired the motor up last night for the first time since Mexico!  I think the problem we had with the motor was the oil pump.  We had to buy everything to put the motor back together and in the process of cleaning everything up to re-assemble, had to buy more parts.  When I took the timing cover completely apart, there is a round hole in it where one of the gears for the oil pump has a shoulder on and sits in the whole and spins around.  That whole in the timing cover was messed up and out of round.  I don't know how it happened but the lack of oil had to be from there whether it was leaking back into the pan because it could with too much clearance or just didn't pump like it should because of the problem.  We will be out testing the truck very soon and off to Wendover in two weeks!  Will keep everyone updated on how we do.  We are really pumped and want to show the competition our rear bumper and never look back.  We will get as much video and pictures as possible and get an update out at the end of the day on May 3rd.

P.S. I'll have to see what work thinks about me leaving really early and try to bring the truck by Moab on the way.  It would be an 80 mile round trip to and from I-70 but would be cool to meet you guys!  I'll get to work on that.....

Fire Guys have to have some red lights right!  We put it on to help move people out of the way in Mexico.  I was going to have about 60 to 70 miles on the hwy at night.  Don't know if it would have worked or not, will have to go back some day to find out!

Sounds like I got my first big sponsor for the race!  I hope you have deep pockets!  Last years 7 miles cost around $20,000!  Yeah, thats $2,857.14 per mile if my calculator is working properly!  ;)

Those dollar figures come from the whole enchalada!  That is the amount we spent on the prep, getting to and from, and the race.  It all adds up!  We didn't spend that much the first year, but found some things that were lacking and this was going to be our big year!  We have a very competetive vehicle and wanted it really bad.  We had 20 people and 10 chase trucks down there to chase us if we needed it along with using the 10 BFG pits for the 1400 miles.  Now think about the logistics for something like that on a one way race.  Everyone needs a place to sleep when permitted, eat, etc.!  Oh yeah, if we had made it all the way down the fuel bill for the race truck would have been a lot more than what it was.  We still had to pay a delivery fee for all the fuel we ordered at each pit even though we didn't use any of it!  Fuel was $9 a gallon this year including the delivery fee!

You guys running trick, vp or?  Which octane?  I don't remember who, but there's a board member here who said he can probably beat anybody's race fuel prices!

Well we are back from the Wendover race some things went really well and others not so well.  Jason started in the 4th spot out of 4 vehicles in mini-metal. The laps were 58 miles long.  By mile 47 Jason was the first truck on course in our class.  At the end of the first lap he had a 55 sec. gap.  At mile 12 it was 1 min 55 sec and at mile 20 it was 7+ min. I only waited 7 min. until I had to head back to the main pits.  Jason settled into a nice pace to finish his 2nd lap and hand over the truck to me for 2 laps.  At mile 40 the truck started missing and popping and stalled.  Jason got it started and continued for a mile and the same thing happened.  This happened a couple more times and the truck would not start.  We got a tow from the chase crew for a mile to check point 2, easy access from the highway.  There was some brake fluid on the coils so we sent some spare coils and electrical parts from the main pits.  We checked all things electrical because it sounded like an ignition problem, cracked the fuel line and fuel went everywhere.  We were just about to attribute the problem to a bad computer and I decided to add about 4 gals of fuel and the truck fired right up!  I jumped into the drivers seat with Kevin in the co-dog seat and we took off.  Got to the main pits and filled her up and found out there was STILL 9 GALLONS IN THE FUEL CELL!!!  Apparently there is a crack in the fuel pick-up inside the fuel cell not allowing us to get all the fuel out, we were well within our fuel window.  The motor ran great when it had fuel, no problems!  The Marlin Hauler Tranny worked without a problem and the truck is FAST!  We had fast lap in our class and their were 3 class 10 cars and we bettered all there fast laps as well!  The bummer part was it took so long to figure out the problem that we got 3rd place.  Our next race will be the BORE Jackpot race on July 4th weekend.
