For my half doors, im gonna higher up than needed, then bend the outer door skin down to make the tops.
Itll be like one smooth fold from outside to the tops of them if it turns out right.
Then get a big sheet of semi-thin sheet metal and sheet the inside so its all smooth, weld it all and smooth out the kinks..
hard to explain, but... youll see..

thats how mine were done

but only the door sheet metal was used.... no extra pieces.

i just left mine bare stock on the inside beside a 6x9 and 6.5" speaker in each door.......bumped SUPER loud and held tons of trash.  the way i look at it half doors on that body style trucks and runners are purely a disposable item that only last a season if your lucky so there is no reason to spend too much time on them.  mine were about an inch thick within 4 months of being built

ya loose the frame, cut looks proper. bolt it up and see how you like the height of it for your arm.  might want it a touch shorter

GDubb5150

You mentioned cup holders before.... then you said something about having access to a tig welder... how about using something like 3" exhaust tubing and "frenching" a cup holder into the top arm rest section.  You know... cap one end of the exhaust tubing and recess it down into the arm rest. Just an idea.  Seems someone would have already thought of doing that and probably has... I just havent seen it before.

Or you can buy those plastic cup holders like they use in boats. I think you use like a 4" holesaw then snap it down in place.
