Superiority debate!!!!!! Toyota VS Jeep

I am sure that this has come about on this forum and this may be a repost, but i want to know what is it between Toyota owners and Jeep owners. I know a lot of you are asking what i am talking about, well here it is.

There has been a debate between Toyota and Jeep owners on who is the best for longer than i have been alive. It only seems to get bigger and bigger as the years pass, harder crawling, bigger mudding, and more extreme trailing.

I know there are a lot of people out there that own both a Toyota and a Jeep, but there seems to be a huge difference in the attitude's of Toyota and Jeep owners. I have meet a lot of people in my short time on the world (due to the military), and it seem's that every time i meet a Jeep owner , they instantly think they are better than me.... Why is this??? I know not all of them are the same, and there are a lot of em that think they are just the same, but what is it???

And i know, i am trying not to be bias(SP) on this one, but i have never meet a Toyota owner who though so high of themselves they wouldn't listen to anything you have to say...

Here is the reason for this thread: I want to get as many opinion's as people have to offer, for Toyota or for Jeep, it doens't matter. As long as this thread goes for doesn't matter to me, i just want to hear all the different opinion's there are. So, with that, bring em on, post up and have so fun with it....

PLEASE RESPECT EVERYONE'S OPINION, DO NOT HARASS ANYONE BECAUSE OF THERE OPINION.... WE WANT TO HAVE A FREINDLY DEBATE. FEEL FREE TO COMMENT BACK TO ANYONE'S POST!!!! BUT KEEP IT FRIENDLY!!!!!

jeeps and yotas are both fine and capable, not all jeep owners are jerks, and not all toyota owners are cool....

I think it often "boils" down to whatever you purchase first and get used to.  I was wanting a TJ when I got my 85 truck and now I can't imagine not owning a Toyota.

In the 4x4 world, the goal of both sets of owners is to own trucks that have as few factory parts as possible.  Many of us want to run Marlin Crawler trucks and Jeeps have their own equipment they prefer.  I do think, however, that a built Toyota has more factory parts left than a built Jeep in most cases.

I have friends that love Jeeps and I always advise them to purchase a Jeep or they won't be happy.

I agree...I just like to bug jeepers! (it's such a fertile field!) Same as Ford/Chevy thing. In fact the biggest putz I ever met, on the trail, was in a Toy.

My whole family drive Jeep's, and they told me that i was an idiot for buying a Toyota. Long story short, i have spent less on my yota (including the price i bought it for) and had fewer problems than the rest of my family with there jeeps.

Plus i have seeing a growing population of jeep owner's think they are so damn cool because they can spend 200 bucks and have a 4 inch lift... but we work so hard on making our's so good, but there is no respect....

and please, i would like someone to explain that to me.. i just have a hard time with Jeep owner's...

I was a big Chevy guy (still am) till I saw a couple of Toy guys in L.C. about  5 years ago. Watched what they went up and how hard they beat their junk and decided to get a Yota. I like Jeeps but the cost of building a jeep is way more than a Yota. Buddy of mine just spent 7 grand on a Sunray 9inch/60 hybrid axle. for his TJ. I don't have near that much in my rig and he still thinks mine is better than his. But he loves Jeeps so that what he built.   I will agree that some Jeep owners think they are better because they have a jeep. I wheel with a few and they are some of the coolest guys I know. They give me props when I make something look easy and they have to struggle to get up.

i have drivin and rolled both, but both had minor upgrades 
now i am building a 4runner, and i have had fewer issues with this than i ever had with the jeep
it seemed i was always maintaining the jeep but i drive the  out my yota and it still starts first time everytime with over 200,000 miles on it. so i would have to say if had the choice again i would go with the yota everyime


old yota rolled at truck hill (if you know the guy who bout this off me, don't deal with him he still hasn't paid in full and now he wont answer the phone!!! )

Its like the differance between skiers an snowboarders. I don't care if you are on a tube as long as your having fun going down hill who cares. I bought a Toyota truck in 1987 Becuase I liked the looks. That has since changed to a 4-Runner. Now its not got much Toyota left on it. Its what I like, it just happens to make jeeps look bad, and I like that alot. I personally love going with my jeep friends, I get some good use out of that strap I bought.

  Always loved jeeps, but I've never owned one.  I don't really care who's wheelin what, as long as they're having fun.  It's not about the rig, its about the activity, and the friends you have and meet when you're out wheelin!  Hell, last time I went to moonrocks, out of three rigs, the saving grace of the weekend came in the form of BLINGNXJ's blinger   Time before that, it was me offering him a strap    both break, but its the fun of building and fixing that really matters

Locally we hang with a Jeep Club (there is no TTORA in our area), they are all cool people and no one has ever had a problem with what we are running in the Mammoth. And not only are all very impressed (anyone surprised) a lot look at it and know right off we are running Toyota parts.
But everyone questions what that is on our front bumper.
The funniest was at a Show n Shine when one guy asked what it was, his friend said it was an air compressor.. I said "No, it's a spare diff" he said "no, it's an air compressor" I said "no, that's my Jeep, it's a spare diff"

I own both, I built my Jeep from a piece of crap stocker to a pretty cool wheeler  it goes where I ask it to and I have not had any problems with it I'm a Jeeper  , Now having said that, I now own a 4 Runner which I am doing a SAS and Duals and...... well stay tuned fer the build, but having seen the Yodas at MCR5 last year and helping MINI build his how can I not have one, then you throw in the reputation of Marlin himself and all of his followers  and some that I now call friends, it speaks fer itself Yodas are cool and so are Jeeps given the choice of which to take wheelin'    I built the Jeep fer general off roading and the Runner for crawling  so its up to the individual if ya like blonds or brunets  wheel and be happy with yer friends if ya come across an A - HOLE JUST SMILE AND SAY

you don't see Toy owners with something like 'it's a 4Runner thing, you wouldn't understand' stickers.
And most of the that sport those stickers don't understand what that is supposed to mean in the first place.
I have to say, on every trail ride we have with our jeep club at least one person breaks something.

ok here is my take. i dont care what you drive/ride but make it your own. i LOVE my 01 pontiac grand prix gtp and a lot of people think it is a grandma car and thats cool. i have a buddy who rolls a 10 second 89 civic not my style but cool. now when you start to decide your ride is BETTER than someone elses for ANY reason you need to be slaped in the head. just yesterday i saw a ford ranger with a sticker in the rear window that said "i would rather push a ford than drive a chevy" that guy was an idiot. i am die hard toy/chevy(GM), but i would rather drive a jeep that push a toy. so it is how you and the people you hang out with act that matters let all those other downer people take a hike. like i said its not how much or even what you put in to your ride just build what you like and like what you build. and remember those other guys are, hopefully, doing the same. and that is just my 10 years of wheelin and 14 years of buildin autos talking.

It's the truth!! IMHO 90% of wheeling is about the driver, not what your driving. Hell, I go 4wheelin in my 96 Maxima, and go places I've seen 4x4's hesitate.

The other thing, is that it's only an opinion, and like a**holes, everyone has one, they're all different, and if you look closley at them you'll find they all stink.

figures..they see a built toyota on the trail and assume its a "higly modified jeep" these guys wouldnt know a rig if it ran over thier POS hummer

While at Hot Springs OHV I sat and shot the bull with the park manager a while. I asked him of some trails and he said "go to XXX trail I wouldn't send the hummer guys up there". Yes there was a group of hummers wheeling the park that day. This video just reminded me of that conversation and how some people percive things. I'd almost bet he told the rockwell guys to go to ZZZ trail and that he would not send my group up there. They were all running 2.5 rockwell axles with 44+ tires, I felt puny in their presence.


Oh and by the way, you can't compare a toyota and a jeep thats just not right. Lets start a new discussion about a 60's VW bug vs the new toyota yaris. Its oranges and apples I tell you!
