Go back up and read. My truck is at bodywork, and I'm bagging another truck.

Oh, ok, sorry.  I remember reading something about your truck going to body work.  I must have not read the part about bagging another truck.

I really like the simplicity of this mazda 4-link - doing only what is necessary and keeping it clean.  Good work!

BTW, where is Windsor, CA and would you be interested in bagging my '87 2wd for me.  I did blocks and drop spindles a long time ago, but would love bags w/4-link and a low-pro trans cross member so I could lay frame.  -Just something I've been considering since it's not my daily driver anymore.

Windsor is VERY far from Santee. It looks like you're down by San Diego. San Diego is like 600 miles, or about 9 hours straight without stops from my house. I would definitely bag your truck, but ti might not be worth the trip.

I just googled Windsor, and yes, that's definately too far.  Kinda sad, my truck would look pretty dope bagged.  I rarely ever drive it, so I've been trying to sell it.  The problem is, I have waaaaaaaay too much money and work into it that I won't get back out of it when I sell it.  :(

Thanks.

It supports itself now!

Its pretty quick, and it feels like it will ride nice and soft. And 80 PSI makes 12" of lift. My home compressor won't put much more in the tank, and I don't want to run the ViAirs yet. At least not until I get the leader hoses from Lance. But everythign is all wired up except for the front dump valves, because I'm not sure where I'm putting them yet.

looks great man, how do you clean the axle well enough to hold paint that well?

Twisted Minis

I just roughed this one up with sandpaper and cleaned it with carb cleaner and then air dried it. On mine, it went entirely to bare metal.

Turned it around. Let my little brother hit the switches.

Its going to get bagged too. I'm just waiting on some parts from Miller to fix my welder. They'e been yanking my chain for about 2 months now. And my welder finally became 100% useless about a week and a half ago and I've been on them twice a day since then, and I finally got them to ship the parts last Thursday, and should have them Monday.

dude you are going to build the most awesome 4x4, i can already tell. you do great work.

im curious.....does the mazda ride on the bags? or will there be some kind of self adjusting coil springs? seems like riding on bags would be really bumpy.  im guessing you will put some in, because i dont even see any shocks! :shocking:

Actually, riding on air is quite nice. Both my truck and this one ride on just the air bags.  My truck rides like a damn race car. The suspension is firm and reacts very quickly. This one will be a little bouncy, but will ride smooth like a Cadillac. It has no shocks due to the amount of lift the customer wanted. The Mazda has a 3:1 ratio, and the bags get 8" of lift on their own. So its capable of about 24" of lift. My shop compressor will only put about 80 PSI in the tank to work with, and that gets it up to 12" of lift (not pictured). And the bags are capable of holding 400 PSI (he wants to hop it...  :dunno:) but 200 PSI would probably allot the full 24" of lift. There was no where to put shocks on this setup that would travel that far, so he opted not to run any.
