I'm really glad you're sharing this with us here. No matter what you modify or build, the quality work that you do is truly inspiring. It really helps ignite a spark under all of us here, regardless of vehicle use preference, to strive to perform at a higher level. Thanks for sharing!!!  :beerchug:

Thanks man.

I've had a couple of people ask about cages recently. I hope they follow through because I like cage work.

As far as plexiglass in the bed floor, it scratches way too easy. If your back window (plexi) gets scratched easily, think about the bottom of the bed floor?

Just to play devil's advocate, what about literal glass, like tempered glass?

The best way might be what you talked about - the trap-door trunk. You should sandblast your work and then clearcoat it. That'd be amazing!!!

Twisted Minis

I would be afraid of what the vibration could do to glass if it where mounted incorrectly. I thought about using Plexi, and tinting the back side as a protective layer.

I would rather clear it the way it is, with the weld marks intact. Once you sandblast something it is prone to rust quickly, or take on finger prints. The guys I use for powder coating say they can clear bare metal and it won't rust. I know you can use paint clear, but it only lasts so long. Cheap clear goes yellow pretty quick too.

yeah it would deffinately look badass with all the weld colors still visible under the clear. and clear powdercoat would hold up alot better than clear paint.

Ya I am curious to try it out since they are confident in it. But it will probably have to be on something of my own. None of my customers seem to like the idea, or the cost of it vs. rattle can paint. Lol. This ones got a set budget, so I'm not going to dip into my own pockets to try it.

I built mounts for the shocks as well as the limiting straps today.

I had to add just 2 more dimples to make the number a nice 25. I wasn't really feeling 23.

Well rather than making a smart ass remark, why don't you just not reply?.If you can respect the quality of work on the rig why not just say that and nothing else. Not everyone has the same taste as you,I personally think the BD Runner looks like ass,but I stay off your thread.I don't know Twisted Minis personally but I think his mini is sweet,if I thought it looked like :pokinit:,I wouldn't reply on his thread where he is trying to show people his mini truck and put him down.Just my  :twocents: .

dont know why but this is the first time I've look at this thread.

Peps hit it right square on the head.

this thing is badass, and the fab work looks top notch.

Twisted Minis

Pulled everything apart to paint it, and got it mostly reassembled. Started a little wiring too. Need to run fuel and power lines, and air lines. Last shot shows the limit strap and the bag compressed nicely.

We are cutting and buffing a car in the shop right now too, which is why there is white dust on everything.

thats some freakin' sick looking suspension. i imagine thats one happy customer youve got there

Man you do some nice work  :beerchug:
Just one question, on that upper link, hows the hiem joint going to do when the bags are fulling inflated? Seems it might bend cause the direction the hiem works is oppsite the direction that the link goes with the bags. Or do you have really high misalingment spacers on there?
Or is there not that much movement on the forward side of that link to worry about?

Twisted Minis

It's a 3/4" rod end (Heim is a brand BTW) with a 9/16" bolt. The upper link itself travels about 20 inches before it binds at either end. This suspension is only designed to travel 9 inches.

Looks great!

The only thing I would have done different is the shock tower. Maybe have 2 tubes about 6" apart coming in to 1 tube to go across.

Twisted Minis

I'm not really following you on that one.

:dunno: Couldn't tell ya. I just think it would look cleaner with all tube.

GJToyotabug

hard to see but its in the bed

LilChief87

that set up is wicked dude nice fab work

boggerunner

no it looks like this, and its in my for sale thread

GJToyotabug

i knew their was a pic of it someware i just couldn't find it

Twisted Minis

That looks pretty cool. I don't know if I could have fit it under the bed though. I have to work within the space I was provided, since the bed floor was raised when I received the truck. And right now the shock mounts are pushing the limits on fitting under the floor. I couldn't get anything up higher than an inch above the notch. So the top of the pumpkin will probably tap the floor as well. I wish I had about another 1/2" to work with, or a 1" smaller tire.

I built a wishbone today for a customer in Texas. Just built to his specs.

I first welded the 3/4" threaded bung into some 1.5" tube and plug welded it. I then sleeved it with a piece of 1.75" tube, with one end notched for more surface area, and welded them together. I also welded a 3/4" billet steel stud to a Ballistic pivot joint (big).

I then built the rest of the wishbone around that.

And the overall piece.

Twisted Minis

Okay back on this till it's done. Not much left. Got the lower arms done. Got the cross shafts finished, and got one control arm welded up. Going to finish the other one tomorrow and put them on. I need to shorten the tie rod on the PS, and tap it deeper (That's what she said). The one on the Driver side has over an inch of adjustment left in it.
