Epilepsy (from the Greek επιληψία /epili΄psia/ ) is a common chronic neurological disorder characterized by recurrent unprovoked seizures. These seizures are transient signs and/or symptoms of abnormal, excessive or synchronous neuronal activity in the brain. About 50 million people worldwide have epilepsy, with almost 90% of these people being in developing countries. Epilepsy is more likely to occur in young children, or people over the age of 65 years, however it can occur at any time. Epilepsy is usually controlled, but not cured, with medication, although surgery may be considered in difficult cases. However, over 30% of people with epilepsy do not have seizure control even with the best available medications. Not all epilepsy syndromes are lifelong – some forms are confined to particular stages of childhood. Epilepsy should not be understood as a single disorder, but rather as a group of syndromes with vastly divergent symptoms but all involving episodic abnormal electrical activity in the brain.

Sorry my nephew has it along with many othe neurological disorders.

From what I understand he has not had a seizure in over 3 years, which means he can now go through drivers ed. He's almost 18 now. He's been driving trucks on his parents ranch for years, but apparently if he has any more seizures, even mild ones he will have his license revoked (assuming he gets it). He has suffered some slight brain damage from the ones when he was younger, that left him a little slower than your average person. He's intelligent, just slow to react or catch things, but he's pretty detail oriented.

That said, his parents said they will let him drive it under supervision and never alone, and they will take it to shows with him that are within reasonable distance for the average person (we go to shows sometimes 700 miles one way).

If he doesn't get his license, his parents and some of our club members plan on helping with transport to and from local shows for him.

I'm not well educated on the situation of driving with epilepsy, all I know is what I was told. It's his money, and it's what he wants, so I am not going to be the one to tell him no. I will leave that to his parents and the government. Lol.

"He has suffered some slight brain damage from the ones when he was younger, that left him a little slower than your average person. He's intelligent, just slow to react or catch things, but he's pretty detail oriented."

and for some miracle reason..... damage to the brain at an early age can be reversed to normal or close to normal on it's own. and still be very smart.

My bestfriends sister has Epilepsy and she can't ever drive.
So the act of you offering to not only build and finish his S10... but also transport it and get him to and from shows, is amazing to me and I am happy to see that there are people out there that do these kinds of things without second thinking it or judging him, for his disability.

My nephew was born missing the right cerebral side of his brain, even though he was diagnosed with Autism, Epilepsy, and a few others. But he walks, talks and acts like a normal baby... he is just making milestones at a later age... takes him a little longer to achieve them.

So Kudos to you Twisted Minis!

I pulled a straight 26 hour shift, with a friend helping me for 12 of them, to get this car done for a show. Started Thursday at 8AM, and finished Friday at 10AM. Owner picked it up at 11AM and drove to the show.

And a couple pictures taken right after it went on it's first test drive.

It needs to come back for some little things, but it made the 600 mile round trip pretty much problem free. I fixed a couple of fitting leaks at the hotel, that was it really.

thats too sweet   I would so tail people on the highway at normal ride height and get them nervous then pull around them to pass and dump it to the ground as I went around  :talkingn:

I've been thinking about doing an upper link mount like this for a while, and I got some time to build one today. The first one will likely end up on John's truck.

I also built this box for my 91 today.

I will probably cover it tomorrow and mock everything up on it. I am still waiting on a few little things before I can actually start installing it though.

I actually really suck at wood working. Or I hate it. One of those. I only do it myself to save the money, and I'm picky. It has to look like it was meant to fit.

The square hole in the middle is an access hole. I am going to hide my distribution blocks, crossovers, and the majority of the wiring inside the center of the box. An amp will go on the front and cover the hole. I should have it mocked up by the end of the day if all goes well covering it.

does your truck have the 2 compartments under where you put the box? are you gonna take out the rear fold up seats and seatbelts?
82 hilux, bobbed, really fast 22r, 2 transfer cases, ARB's, 5.29's, 37" MTR's. Custom everything.

Twisted Minis

Ya it does have those two compartments. I will basically loose them, but I can still get to the two on the sides.

I pulled the lower part of the fold down seats out, and I pulled the lower seatbelts out and I used those two threaded holes to make an internal mounting bracket to keep the box in place.

I won't remove the rear portion of the seat, because it looks incomplete without it, and I don't really want to make a filler panel for a daily... I will be taking out the rear belts. I discarded the seats entirely, so they won't ever be going back in. No one was ever really going to sit back there anyways. Lol.

BUDDERS

That looks real nice.  I gotta do something like that for my ride.  The last one I made had 2 JL 10's firring down.  I think I'm gonna make the same size box I did last time, except with one JL dual voice coil sub and use the other side for the amp and a storage compartment.  If I do it right, it should make it nice and lo-pro so I can still fold the seats back.

that box looks really good. the other thing i always thought about doing is fully pulling the rear seats and makeing a box for the subs in place of them. so the subs sit where those two underseat compartments would have been.

I can still lean the seats back really far with that box in, and there is enough room to store back packs and sleeping bags for those car show road trips, and have an open bed. :D

I really can't wait to wire all this up. I have a nice head unit, and an iPod interface, and a nice component set to go in too. I'm just waiting on some RCAs and wiring supplies to show up next Wednesday.

I'm so tired of having only one POS speaker in this truck. Lol.

I think I like where this is going with your '91.  So I take it you are planning on using heims for the pivots instead of uniballs or ball joints?  If that's the case, it should make aligning it a lot easier - no more shims on the frame side of the upper ball joints - that is... unless your caster is off.

Those are not actually for the 91. I haven't delved into that project yet. These are actually the opposite, a ~3" drop spindle. This is for a full frame that is a side project. The caster will be dialed in once, and then never adjusted again. The camber and tie rods will be the only thing that is adjustable. It's a scratch built front suspension, or, it will be. I am designing more parts to be laser cut right now, and the front "rails are sitting on the jig right now. I will try to bring my camera tomorrow.

I got the stereo installed in my new daily. Eclipse 5100 head unit with iPod interface, Arc Audio FD6000 component set are new. Everything else 5-10 years.

I need a new dash panel if anyone finds one from a 90-92 truck. Someone mangled this one it looks like trying to pry the head unit out. But it bolts in from the back side to the dash frame.  ::)
