Rolling into loon lake or the springs on Friday?
After reading your thread this is what I wanna do to my 4Runner
i wanna a see build to this thing
If you don't encounter any traffic, the Pavement to the Springs Campground can be done in a little over 2 hours aired down without using a locker and without using 4WD. TURBO and I did this for MCR9 in the dark in 2WD and it took us two in a half hours. There were just three spots coming down Cadillac hill where you'll have to use your brakes to keep the front end from freewheeling.BigMike
Since you can not get up to the trail until friday evening I would suggest the tahoe side. It can take a while to get to the springs from loon especially if there is traffic. If you can spare the time I highly suggest that you head out toward loon lake on sunday just so you can see the whole trail.
Sounds like what we'll do then. Thanks for the advice guys. I would like to see the whole trails so we'll try to head out toward loon lake on sunday. I'll try to meet up with you John at the springs maybe Saturday some time. And BigMike, if you guys need any help with the event saturday let me know.
Gotta hand it to you Talon, You have my favorite Toyota build on the MCF.Props to your fabwork, talent, skills and having a one-off-4door yota buddy.Keep up the amazing work.
Your thread has by far some of the best build ideas I have ever seen. Your work is incredible. Only thing that would make it any cooler would be running 4 wheel underground suspension. But man this is sweet.
Awesome photos Talon! It was really cool to see ya at the event!!
Glad you made it out safely and that the future wife enjoyed herself.I look forward to next time I see you on the trail.
This is by far one of the coolest builds i've ever seen...i really like the work done to protect the rear quarter panels. Glad to see it on the trail as well!
Here's one of my earlier posts:As far as getting it running, I pulled the old fuel pump from the sender and just extended and draw tube down in it's place within the sending unit. I also flipped the float over in the other direction so that the fuel gauge would read in the correct direction. Any other information you're looking for? Also here's the pirate thread, I found which tank to get from reading this: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=484247&highlight=ford+gas+tank
talon, all i can say is, WOW!!!! been followin' your truck's evolution since about the middle of '08 and that is some top drawer quality craftsmanship. smokin'!
So I went and got a gas tank, now the quesion I have is what hoses go to what and what wires get spliced to what. I know you have a 22R so it may be different for my 22RE. As I put the tank up under the frame I found out it dosn't fit just right and you do have to move the crossmember, but that is ok I just wish I knew that before I put the body back on the frame and wired rock lights into the cross member. Does anyone show you on the pirate forum (the computer at work won't let me on pirate)?
