Will be trying to come in tahoe side to the springs friday night. We'll see how that goes as me and the other guy i'm heading in with have never done the trail

Do you think that's the best route to go since we won't be getting to the trail head until friday evening? Thought maybe since we'll be heading in while it's dark the easier route would be best until we can meet up with people who know where they're going.

Since you can not get up to the trail until friday evening I would suggest the tahoe side. It can take a while to get to the springs from loon especially if there is traffic. If you can spare the time I highly suggest that you head out toward loon lake on sunday just so you can see the whole trail.

If you don't encounter any traffic, the Pavement to the Springs Campground can be done in a little over 2 hours aired down without using a locker and without using 4WD. TURBO and I did this for MCR9 in the dark in 2WD and it took us two in a half hours. There were just three spots coming down Cadillac hill where you'll have to use your brakes to keep the front end from freewheeling.

Your thread has by far some of the best build ideas I have ever seen.  Your work is incredible. Only thing that would make it any cooler would be running 4 wheel underground suspension. But man this is sweet.

Thank you, plans for the drivetrain are 80 series axles and links someday.

Well here's the over-due update:

Made some sliders for a friends FJ40

then started prepping for the round up, built a rear bumper

reset the shackle angle with the bed loaded up

then the sides

built a bed bar to hold the farm jack, tank, and cb whip

then a handle bar for the passenger (this came in very handy)

wired up the LED rock lights. There is a light in front and rear of each tire, I also added 2 in the belly one forward one back. After this pic I also added 2 more in the front bumper aimed forward so that I could run without using headlights

also ordered up a twin stick from Davez

then loaded it all up and headed to the round up

I didn't take very many pictures at the round up but had a blast. I got a chance to see a lot of rigs and talk to quite a few people. I'm looking forward to going again.

My fiancee did take some pictures on the trail, there was a lot of beautiful scenery and amazing views.

also this was her first wheeling trip ever and I have to say she did great, coming down Cadillac hill friday night was a bit much for her but that's a lot to take in if you've never been.

Overall I had a great time, I was very lucky and made it through the entire trail with no breakage even on stock axles. My sliders do show the price for being a low rig though haha, they held up great

Thanks John, it was good to meet and talk with you. Those birfs couldn't have came at a better time, my friend busted both of his at the same time heading out loon Sunday morning. And my fiancée had a much better time wheeling in the day light. Thanks again

Here's one of my earlier posts:
As far as getting it running, I pulled the old fuel pump from the sender and just extended and draw tube down in it's place within the sending unit. I also flipped the float over in the other direction so that the fuel gauge would read in the correct direction. Any other information you're looking for?

Also here's the pirate thread, I found which tank to get from reading this: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=484247&highlight=ford+gas+tank

So I went and got a gas tank, now the quesion I have is what hoses go to what and what wires get spliced to what.  I know you have a 22R so it may be different for my 22RE.  As I put the tank up under the frame I found out it dosn't fit just right and you do have to move the crossmember, but that is ok I just wish I knew that before I put the body back on the frame and wired rock lights into the cross member.  Does anyone show you on the pirate forum (the computer at work won't let me on pirate)?

Thank you, it's come a lot further than I expected when I first started

If you pull the sender, you will be able to see which wire goes to the fuel pump and which two to hook up for the float level. I don't remember off the top of my head but will look tomorrow and see which two I used. As for the fuel lines i'd have to double check that too, I believe the larger diameter is the feed and the smaller is the return, as for your line to the charcoal, I plumbed that one into the vent at the top center of the tank. I will try to find pics for you
